Job Description

Job Summary:
The Senior Program Manager is responsible for leading larger and more complex technical programs within the Defense Engineering Department. Activities include managing customer communications, creating project planning documents, and leading teams to successful completion of project technical deliverables. Focus will be on Cost, Schedule, and Performance management of the program. The position will interface with all parts of the organization, in addition to customers, sub-contractors, etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Manage all cost aspects of the program from cradle to end of life. This includes leading the Request for Proposal) RFP process, to monthly reporting of program performance, to program closeout.
* Lead all schedule aspects of the program to ensure all teams are meeting their scheduled deliverables and customer need dates are met. Actively manage risk and develop solutions to meet program objectives.
* Lead all performance aspects of the program to ensure the collective team meets or exceeds the customers" expectations/requirements as it relates to the Statement of Work (SOW).
* Manage manpower planning, personnel utilization, resource assignment, and program metrics via control documents to include budget sheets, an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), Risk Register, Scope Amendment Log, etc.
* Lead teams to execute Program Reviews and Design Reviews to internal and external stakeholders.
* Support department needs associated with Business development and Forecasting.
* Instill a positive working environment where teams thrive and grow together to meet common goals/objectives. Lead by example, work to implement/improve processes/procedures and work instructions.
Education and Experience (required):
* Bachelor"s degree in engineering, business or another related field.
* Minimum 6 years of program management experience and/or leading cross functional teams to established goals.
* Experience in program management practices and execution for government and defense industry and working with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD).
* U.S. Citizen.
* Ability to obtain security clearance, minimum secret level.
Education and Experience (preferred):
* Master"s degree in engineering or business administration.
* Secret or higher security clearance.
* Project Management Certification (PMI / PMP or other).
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities (required):
* Demonstrated ability to understand staffing demand and supply data metrics; strong problem solving and analytical skills; ability to make recommendations and provide guidance to effectively meet program staffing requirements.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Project).
* Ability to effectively manage multiple projects.
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
