What are Government NPs?

Government NPs, or Government Nurse Practitioners, are advanced practice registered nurses who work within government agencies or public health organizations. They provide primary and specialty healthcare services, conduct health assessments, diagnose and treat illnesses, and may be involved in health policy or community health programs. Government NPs often work in settings such as public health departments, Veterans Affairs (VA) facilities, correctional institutions, or military bases. Their role is critical in improving access to healthcare, especially for underserved or vulnerable populations.
