Job description

THE POSITION Are you meticulous, goal-driven, and always striving for excellence. If so, consider joining the Department of Transportation's Human Resource Office, Field Operation Division as a Human Resource Assistant 2. This position gives you the opportunity to utilize your strengths as you perform a variety of clerical and technical human resource duties, providing essential support to the office.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position provides essential support to human resource (HR) operations within a district field office. The role helps manage staffing processes, employee records, and program coordination across multiple HR areas.

As a Human Resource Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties: Hiring Support: Coordinate seasonal and student hiring programs by reviewing applications, arranging interviews, managing forms, and verifying qualifications Program Coordination: Support intern, temporary work out of classification, and job shadow programs by tracking paperwork, approvals, and participant status Record Management: Update organization charts, upload documents to electronic personnel files, and maintain bulletin boards and required postings Employee Processing: Assist with onboarding, I-9 verification, e-PAR actions, and ensuring checklists are completed and properly filed Performance Tracking: Monitor performance review deadlines, generate reports, and help supervisors complete required evaluation steps HR Assistance: Answer applicant questions, gather information for unemployment claims, support employee relations activities, and prepare correspondence Drive into a new chapter in your career and help us shape build and maintain a strong workforce. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Montoursville. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a Human Resource Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or One year of clerical or other comparable experience and one year of beginning level paraprofessional human resource or equal opportunity work; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
