The Director of Government Affairs is responsible for supporting the organizationโ€™s public affairs and government relations efforts by promoting policies that sustain access to air medical services. Build relationships with public officials and community stakeholders, monitor healthcare and aviation legislation and advances advocacy initiatives that protect patient access and operational viability.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, healthcare advocacy, or a related field, with demonstrated progression into strategic or leadership responsibilities preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in public affairs, political science, healthcare administration, communications or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Working knowledge of healthcare reimbursement, EMS systems or aviation regulations is a plus
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Ability to interpret legislation and communicate operational impact
  • Relationship building skills with diverse stakeholders
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities
  • Customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of organization
  • Travel by personal or company vehicle throughout LFNโ€™s service area is required. Must hold a valid driverโ€™s license, an automobile in good repair and be able to provide proof of auto insurance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build and maintain relationships with local, state, and reimbursement-related federal officials, agencies, and community partners
  • Monitor healthcare, aviation, and reimbursement related legislation affecting air medical services
  • Lead and manage a team of state and federal consultants, monitor performance, and prioritize opportunities
  • Communicate the value of air ambulance services, including patient access and emergency response capabilities
  • Analyze legislative and regulatory developments and provide strategic recommendations to executive leadership, including financial and operational impacts
  • Anticipate emerging policy trends and position the organization proactively to mitigate risk and capitalize on opportunities
  • Direct advocacy initiatives, including development of testimony, position statements, and policy proposals
  • Coordinate outreach with legislators and staff to educate on air medical transport issues
  • Serve as the organizationโ€™s representative with policymakers, regulatory agencies, and industry associations
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with clinical, operations, finance, and legal teams to ensure consistent messaging and alignment
  • Ensure compliance with lobbying, ethics, and reporting requirements
