Job Summary
Support the Company's Energy Efficiency objectives through evaluation and documentation of energy efficient technologies and projects. Provide technical expertise in collaboration with multiple business units (regulatory, marketing, government affairs, business development) to achieve business objectives. Develop and build relationships with contracted engineering firms, external stakeholders, and contractors and equipment representatives (Trade Allies) to facilitate and promote the installations of high efficiency natural gas technologies.
Essential Functions
  • Perform theoretical calculations of natural gas and fuel switching energy efficiency projects.
  • Perform on-site visits with end-use customers to assist in identification of energy savings opportunities, application review and data collection.
  • Support the development of tools and techniques to streamline and modernize technical analysis and customer data analysis.
  • Provide technical expertise to end-use customers to promote gas technologies and coordinate with internal sales and marketing groups to support the growth objectives of the Company.
  • Document energy efficiency projects through detailed project write-up and reports.
  • Build relationships with Trade Allies to facilitate and effectively promote energy efficiency programs through site visits, lunch and learn, seminars and presentations.

Education Description
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college with 3-5 years of experience, or advanced degree with 0-2 years of experience, or equivalent industry experience.

Experience
  • High level of understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics
  • 3 to 5 years of technical expertise in energy design modeling with experience in project management and customer interaction.
  • Must be able to perform complex engineering calculations related to energy technologies including energy assessment, heat loss/gain calculations, fuel costs and conversions, etc.
  • Must know and have ability to apply mechanical principles associated with current and emerging gas and electric applications; must have the ability to communicate technical information in an understandable and professional manner.
  • Proficiency with MS Office products and a high level of competency working with spreadsheets

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using scripting languages (e.g. Python/Pandas, Matlab) for technical analysis and interfacing with spreadsheets
  • Experience with database and data analytics tools (e.g. MS Access, SQL, SAP/HANA, Google Cloud Platform)
  • Familiar with building, construction, and other mechanical and HVAC principles.
  • Understanding of Minnesota Commercial Energy Code and Residential Energy code.
  • Formal training and experience working with energy modeling programs and system design

  • Normal office environment

Work Conditions
  • Have a valid Minnesota driver's license and have a safe driving record as determined by the Company.
  • Must be willing to travel periodically for customer visits or events.

Compensation: $75,590.40 to $113,385.60 Annually
CenterPoint Energy is required by Minnesota law to provide a good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum starting compensation range at the time of posting for the opportunity. This annual compensation range is specific to Minnesota and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
