Job description

Summary We are looking for a self-starter with an interest in local government and affordable housing policy and programs. This internship will provide hands-on local government experience while working alongside a high- performing and energetic team with a diverse work portfolio. The intern will be empowered to take on meaningful projects related to Housing and Community Development's strategic initiatives.

The Housing and Community Development Department is committed to talent development and provides opportunities for interns to build a portfolio of technical skills and experiences to help advance their careers. Candidates should include their resume and a cover letter that describes why they are interested in this position and their interests in Housing and Community Development. Temporary positions do not offer Town benefits.

Temporary employees are limited to working 950 hours in a 12-month period. All Town employees must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen. A successful Intern is going to need: A commitment to public service and contributing to positive community solutions A passion for affordable housing and community development Excellent research, analysis, and collaboration skills Ability to manage a variety of tasks simultaneously Possess good oral and written communication skills Be proficient with computers and software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint Be eager to learn and able to work independently Model behaviors that are consistent with our values of RESPECT .

Essential Functions Essential Functions All of our interns have the opportunity to engage in one or more projects related to affordable housing and have additional opportunities to learn about our team 's work and gain experiences in the following areas: Assisting with quantitative and qualitative research Assisting with data collection, analysis, and management Providing project management support Assembling department reports and communications Conducting surveys Attending department meetings and events Assisting with some administrative work including data entry tasks, filing, copying, etc.
