If you are detail-oriented, organized, and enjoy working with technology and the public, we encourage you to apply and become part of our Tax Administration team. Performs skilled technical and administrative support updating records, assisting with appraisals and data entry work, performing desktop review of property physical characteristics, sketch comparison in Pictometry, and performing related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Appraisal Supervisor.

Since every duty associated with this classification may not be described herein, employees may be required to perform duties not specifically spelled out in this class specification, but which may be reasonably considered to be incidental in the performance of their duties just as though they were written out in this class specification. Essential Functions The following essential functions serve as a general guide for this position. Position functions are subject to change based on departmental needs and external factors including, but not limited to, regulatory requirements.

Assists Real Property Appraisers by researching and gathering data in relation to appraisals, mapping, or other related operations; Updates real property records and reappraisals; maintains real property database through data entry of property characteristic changes, parcel splits, new construction and updated valuation schedules, and assigns accounts for new taxpayers; Retrieves building permits from the Permitting department, prints property cards, and maintains permit status, assigns permit to appropriate appraiser, etc.; Explains the assessment procedures and related laws and information to the public; Resolves routine questions or problems in the appraisal process; Organizes and maintains files and records, and reviews data entry for accuracy; Records appeals in the CAMA (computer-assisted mass appraisal) system, assists with scheduling letters, decision letters, dockets, and scheduling of the Board members; Assists with the aerial canvas of properties; Assist in Listings and Collections departments as needed; Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Associates/Technical degree with course work in real estate or related field and minimal experience in general clerical work preferably in a real estate environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Thorough knowledge of standard office methods and procedures; General knowledge of the principals, practices, and techniques used in the valuation of real property (IAAO 101); General knowledge of the geographic layout of the County; General knowledge of standard office machines and Microsoft Office Suite; Ability to make decisions relating to assigned operations in conformance with applicable laws and policies; Ability to enter data into a computer accurately and at a reasonable rate of speed; Ability to solve problems within the scope of responsibility; Ability to prepare and maintain reports of work activities; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with work associates and the general public

Physical Requirements This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires walking, sitting, speaking, hearing, use of hands and fingers, handling, feeling and repetitive motions, frequently requires pushing, pulling and occasionally requires standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching with hands and arms and lifting; work has standard vision requirements, requiring close vision, distance vision and depth perception; work requires vocal communication to express or exchange ideas orally; work requires hearing to perceive information at normal spoken levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, using measuring devices, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally requires working near moving mechanical parts and working in high, precarious places; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic). Special Requirements Must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license
