Purpose

We are seeking a Senior UX Designer to lead design discovery, experience strategy, and end-to-end product design for solutions focused on emergency response, communications, and situational awareness.

This role will help shape intuitive, reliable, and accessible product experiences across both daily incidents and emergency scenarios, including behavioral and medical events as well as campus-wide emergencies. You will partner closely with Product Management and Engineering to turn complex workflows, user needs, and business goals into clear, scalable design solutions that enable faster coordination, improved visibility, and more effective response outcomes.

The ideal candidate brings strong product design experience, sound UX judgment, and comfort designing for complex, high-consequence, or time-sensitive environments. Experience in public safety, healthcare, education, government, incident management, operational workflows, or other mission-critical environments is helpful, but not required.

Position Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end discovery and design for emergency response, communications, and incident management solutions.
  • Lead design discovery with customers, internal users, and stakeholders, synthesizing feedback, usability findings, and product data to identify high-impact experience opportunities.
  • Balance user needs, operational realities, accessibility, scalability, and technical feasibility.
  • Drive design decisions using customer insights, workflow understanding, usability testing, and product data.
  • Translate user needs and business goals into clear user flows, journey maps, prototypes, interaction patterns, and design specifications.
  • Build a deep understanding of urgent, high-stress, operational response environments and the users who rely on them.
  • Partner closely with Product Management and Engineering to deliver mission-critical capabilities and user-centered experiences.
  • Contribute to prioritization decisions by representing user impact, workflow complexity, accessibility, design quality, and system consistency.
  • Communicate design direction, tradeoffs, and progress clearly to stakeholders across Engineering, Product, Sales, Customer Success, and Operations.
  • Define and track experience success measures, using insights to guide iteration and continuous improvement.
  • Support cross-functional coordination for product releases and launches, ensuring successful implementation, rollout, and adoption across customer and internal teams.
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of UX Design, Product Design or related experience, including experience independently leading complex software design initiatives from discovery through delivery.
  • Experience designing complex workflows, enterprise tools, operational systems, or other high-consequence user experiences where clarity, speed, reliability, and accessibility matter.
  • Ability to quickly understand users, environments, workflows, and constraints; familiarity with products that connect software, hardware, physical environments, or real-world operations is helpful.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a research- and data-informed approach to turning ambiguity into clear user flows, interaction models, prototypes, and design direction.
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with Product Management, Engineering, Research, and cross-functional stakeholders, including clear communication of design rationale, tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations.
  • Strong proficiency with modern design, prototyping, and collaboration tools; familiarity with responsible AI-assisted workflows is a plus.
  • Comfort operating in a high-growth environment with evolving priorities, imperfect information, and a need for pragmatic decision-making.
  • Occasional travel may be needed for internal meetings, customer engagements, or industry events.
