Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, such as Java, C , Python, or Go.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 3 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or database architecture.
  • 1 year of experience with query optimization, distributed caching layers, data replication, or memory/resource efficiency measurement tools.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience with data structures, algorithms, and query optimization techniques in a large-scale data storage environment.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role, leading architectural design discussions, mentoring developers, and guiding cross-functional database efficiency initiatives.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies or engineering highly reliable, planet-scale systems that support global, various advertiser and publisher populations.

Responsibilities
  • Write and test product or system development code in Java, C , Python, or Go to design and implement efficient, next-generation distributed caching and database architectures.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies for global Ads data storage and scaling systems.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices regarding testing, maintainability, and compute/memory resource efficiency.
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback to share resource governance standards.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
