About the job

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to handle information at massive scale, and extend well beyond web search. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.

The Access Transparency (AXT) team is foundational to customer trust in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring every administrative access to user content is justified, transparent, and compliant with critical global standards like US Public Sector IL4/IL5/CJIS/ITAR and EU sovereignty P/R5.

Our mission is to engineer the future of cloud compliance by giving customers definitive, auditable control over their data. We record and provide near real-time logs of Google personnel access, allowing customers to verify that privileged access occurs only for valid business reasons, such as fixing outages or responding to support cases.

The AXT team is at the forefront of AI and automation within Cloud security, developing an agentic automation platform to ensure all of GCP is compliant.

Google Cloud accelerates every organization’s ability to digitally transform its business and industry. We deliver enterprise-grade solutions that leverage Google’s cutting-edge technology, and tools that help developers build more sustainably. Customers in more than 200 countries and territories turn to Google Cloud as their trusted partner to enable growth and solve their most critical business problems.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $147000 - $210000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

  • Implement and test features within the AI automation platform, utilizing advanced agentic frameworks to support the autonomous generation and validation of AXT annotations and configuration for service teams.
  • Design, implement, and test scalable systems, build solutions capable of handling petabytes of data to help ensure security and compliance for all GCP services.
  • Write high-quality code, produce clean, maintainable, and well-tested code primarily in Go, C++ and Java, or similar languages.
  • Benefit from the expertise and guidance of experienced team members, maximizing your potential at Google.
  • Partner with other teams to ensure GCP products.
