Mount Aloysius College, repeatedly recognized by ModernThink as a "Great College to Work For," invites applications for a temporary, part-time, 12-month Graduate Resident Director (GRD) to join its Residence Life team beginning August 2026 through May 2027.
The Graduate Resident Director (GRD) assists the Director of Residence Life and Student Affairs Staff with day-to-day activities; interviewing/selection, supervision, training and development of undergraduate Resident Assistant staff; development of educational programming for residential students; coaching/behavioral intervention; and referral to other Campus resources, when necessary. The GRD participates in an on-call rotation, serves as a resource in crisis and emergency situations, and performs administrative tasks as necessary. Additionally, this extended 12-month appointment allows the GRD to assist with summer conferences, housing concerns, facilities and maintenance checks in rooms, addressing student and guardian questions, first year student housing, and other administrative tasks as required.
The GRD is a key member of the Residence Life team and is required to participate in the planning, implementation and hosting of various events and activities, including but not limited to: Housing selection, Move-in/out, Welcome Week, Hall closings, etc.
The successful candidate is required to live on campus and is provided with a furnished studio-style apartment with a private bath, living room, and kitchenette. A complimentary meal plan is provided when the dining program is in session.
The GRD is responsible to devote an average of 20 hours per week to their assigned duties during the semester for a total of 300 hours per semester. During the summer months, outside of the academic year, the GRD will devote up to 30 hours per week to their assigned duties. Position provides 100% tuition credit for full-time enrolled students up to eighteen (18) credits for the 26-27 academic year (typically 9 credits per semester). A modest stipend is also awarded for hours worked. This position is not eligible for benefits or remote work.
Qualifications
Applicants must be a current or prospective graduate student at Mount Aloysius College. Enrollment in one of the College's Master's degree programs is required. (Successful completion of Bachelor's degree required.) Strong record of academic achievement as an undergraduate student with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above required. Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as satisfactory undergraduate student conduct record required. Must be able to maintain confidentiality, prioritize tasks, and remain self-motivated. Must meet all requirements to become certified to drive College fleet vehicles, including vans.
Two (2) years' experience in residence hall leadership or other related leadership experience preferred. Genuine interest in the Student Affairs profession is strongly preferred. Knowledge of Google Suite and other team management/communication tools is a plus. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, as well as take initiative is highly valued.
Graduate Assistantships are single academic-year appointments only; eligibility for renewal as 2nd-year GA is dependent upon successful completion of 1st-year GA appointment period.
This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time; all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of their application.
