Job description

Cape Henry Collegiate seeks a professional, organized, and personable Front Desk Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for all visitors, families, and callers. This role is responsible for managing the school's main entrance and central phone line while ensuring a welcoming, secure, and efficient front entrance environment.
Under the direction of the Director of Operations, this individual interacts daily with students, families, faculty, staff, and visitors, and plays a critical role in representing the School's mission and values. This position requires discretion, strong judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with composure.
This is a full-time position. The schedule is 9:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Position Duties (may include, but are not limited to):

  • Serve as the first point of contact for all campus visitors, creating a welcoming and professional environment while maintaining security protocols.
  • Operate the school's main switchboard, answering and directing calls efficiently, accurately, and courteously.
  • Manage visitor check-in procedures and enforce campus access protocols in coordination with security staff.
  • Monitor and maintain a professional, secure front entrance environment.
  • Support daily front desk operations, including parent and student assistance, delivery logistics and communication with internal departments.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma required
  • Prior experience in a front desk, receptionist, or high-volume customer service role preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Experience in an educational setting is a plus.

Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, with occasional standing, walking, and light physical tasks (e.g., bringing in the drop box, carrying emergency box). Reasonable accommodations may be made.
