Job description

Description
St. Thomas Aquinas University Parish is seeking Catholic college students who are getting a degree at UVA to work as receptionists at the front desk in the Parish Office. This is a limited Part Time position (no benefits) that is flexible and can work around student class schedules. Shifts can be as short as 3 hours and as long as 7 hours, between the range of 9:00am to 4:00pm. Current open times are Monday 9:00 - 4:00, Tuesday 9:00 - 4:00, and Thursday 11:30 - 4:00. Timing of shifts can be renegotiated each semester.
Responsibilities include answering the phone and directing calls, replying to email requests, greeting visitors, scheduling appointments and mass intentions, and performing general office tasks under supervision from the Supervisor of Internal Operations.
Requirements
The ideal candidate is a UVA college student who is a Catholic in good standing. This position requires courtesy and professionalism in communication skills, a warm and welcoming demeanor, awareness of the necessity for confidentiality, understanding of general office operations (typing, filing, answering multi-line telephones, voicemail, scanning, printing, photocopying, mailing, organizing), and the use of applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Calendars, Planning Center, and the parish database Camino. Receptionists must be able to multi-task and deal with interruptions; be courteous, friendly, and team-oriented; and be able to express ideas clearly in both written and oral communication.
