Job description

Job Description
QA EngineerPay Range: $42/hour to $57/hourPosition Overview
We are seeking an experienced QA Engineer to support the quality and reliability of enterprise platforms that power critical business operations. This role will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive, automation-first quality strategies across complex enterprise applications, with a strong focus on Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) R12 and related integrations.
The QA Engineer will partner closely with engineering, product, business, and vendor teams to build scalable test coverage, shift quality earlier in the development lifecycle, reduce escaped defects, and ensure stable, repeatable releases across environments.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in enterprise application testing, hands-on test automation, Oracle EBS, data validation, and CI/CD integration.
Key ResponsibilitiesQuality Strategy & Ownership
  • Own end-to-end quality for assigned platforms using an automation-first approach.
  • Define and maintain automation standards, including framework patterns, coding practices, test data strategies, and test reliability.
  • Develop risk-based test coverage across UI, API, integration, and data validation.
  • Establish quality gates and reporting mechanisms, including automated pass/fail results, coverage metrics, defect trends, and release readiness indicators.
  • Partner with engineering teams and vendors to ensure solutions are designed for testability, observability, and automation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve test speed, reliability, and overall release quality.
Test Planning, Estimation & Prioritization
  • Review business requirements and technical designs to identify gaps, ambiguity, and testability concerns.
  • Define test approaches and automation strategies early in the development lifecycle.
  • Develop test scope, estimates, and environment requirements for new initiatives.
  • Determine which scenarios should be automated across UI, API, integration, and data layers.
  • Prioritize automation efforts based on business risk, system changes, production incidents, and opportunities to reduce repetitive manual regression testing.
Test Execution & Automation
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites covering key enterprise business processes and custom integrations.
  • Build scalable and maintainable automation frameworks using reusable components, utilities, page objects, service clients, and other appropriate design patterns.
  • Develop reliable test data and environment strategies, including data seeding, masking, setup, and teardown.
  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and implement quality gates that provide rapid feedback.
  • Validate application behavior through UI, API, integration, and database testing.
  • Improve automation observability through logs, screenshots, traces, and other diagnostic capabilities.
  • Automate non-functional testing where appropriate, including performance smoke testing, security testing hooks, and accessibility checks in partnership with specialized teams.
Defect Management & Release Readiness
  • Support UAT by establishing clear entry and exit criteria and providing appropriate test evidence.
  • Drive regression coverage through automation wherever practical.
  • Triage, reproduce, and document defects with clear severity, priority, evidence, and steps to reproduce.
  • Perform root-cause analysis on escaped defects, test failures, and flaky automation.
  • Implement permanent improvements to test coverage, frameworks, and tooling based on defect trends and production issues.
  • Provide clear release quality assessments using pipeline health, regression results, known risks, and defect metrics to support release decisions.
Documentation & QA Enablement
  • Maintain QA standards, test strategies, templates, environment checklists, and other documentation.
  • Maintain traceability between requirements, business workflows, test scenarios, and results.
  • Coordinate UAT activities with business stakeholders, including test walkthroughs, defect triage, and readiness communications.
  • Promote quality practices across engineering and business teams through coaching, retrospectives, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify and implement measurable improvements in release stability, automation coverage, and testing efficiency.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in QA, test engineering, software quality, or a related discipline supporting enterprise applications.
  • Strong experience testing enterprise ERP systems; Oracle EBS R12 experience strongly preferred.
  • Functional knowledge of multiple enterprise business processes, such as:
    • Procure to Pay (P2P)
    • Order to Cash (OTC)
    • Project Accounting
    • Inventory
    • Work in Process (WIP)
    • Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Experience using SQL or similar query tools to validate data, troubleshoot issues, and support root-cause analysis.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language used for test automation, such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
  • Experience with Git or another version-control system.
  • Strong understanding of QA automation principles, test design patterns, maintainable frameworks, and reliable test execution at scale.
  • Hands-on experience with test automation tools and integration of automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ability to document test strategies, coverage, results, and traceability to business requirements and workflows.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple testing efforts and prioritize effectively in a dynamic release environment.
  • Demonstrated ownership, accountability, problem-solving ability, and commitment to continuous improvement.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree required.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience testing Oracle EBS R12 implementations, customizations, and integrations.
  • Experience with enterprise application integrations and API testing.
  • Experience building or extending automated testing frameworks.
  • Experience implementing quality gates within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with test data management and automated environment setup.
  • Experience supporting UAT and working directly with business stakeholders.
  • Experience analyzing production defects and using data to improve test coverage and release quality.
