P&C IT Services provides professional services to help our business units and corporate functions use technology to create, manage, and optimize information and business processes. The ClaimCenter team is seeking a Senior Application Engineer. Claims IT supports and enhances the ClaimCenter application used by various Great American Business Units. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing solutions within the Guidewire ClaimCenter platform as well as broader enterprise applications and integrations that support business needs. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in cloud-based development, strong technical skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality software solutions.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and implement Java-based integration solutions within a cloud native architecture
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and develop new features
  • Customize and configure the ClaimCenter platform in a cloud environment to align with business needs
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment and support
  • Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
  • Develop and maintain automated unit and integration tests
  • Work across the organization to provide business processes or design recommendations consistent with long-term business and IT strategy

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience developing Java applications in enterprise environments
  • Experience with the following technologies and tools:
    • Java-based enterprise frameworks, such as Spring
    • RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server) and database integration with Java
    • REST/SOAP APIs and web service development
    • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud-native development
    • Apache Camel for enterprise integration and routing
    • BitBucket or Github for source control and code collaboration
    • Webservice testing tools (SoapUI, Postman)
    • JUnit and automated testing frameworks
    • Microservices architecture and Full Stack development
    • Application testing and coordinating test strategies with IT Quality Assurance teams
  • Highly motivated and ambitious, excellent communication skills, creative & critical thinker
  • Continual learning and improvement in the understanding of software capabilities and programming languages is essential
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Awareness and experience with AI tools
