Job description

The Gig:

We're looking for a Sr. Discoverability (GEO/SEO) Manager to own our brand's discoverability across traditional search engines and the rapidly evolving world of AI-powered platforms. As search behavior shifts toward conversational, generative, and agentic experiences, this role puts you at the heart of how Virgin Voyages is found, referenced, and trusted, whether a sailor is searching Google, asking ChatGPT, or querying Gemini for their next voyage. You'll bridge technical SEO fundamentals with forward-thinking Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) strategies, ensuring our brand doesn't just rank, but owns the answer. This gig is based at VVHQ - our swanky Virgin Voyages Head Office in Plantation, FL where we follow a hybrid work environment. We can't wait to 'sea' you in person during our Collaboration Days, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, while you enjoy Mondays and Fridays' as remote days.

What You’ll Be Up To:

Own the holistic SEO/GEO strategy that ladders up to business goals and specific KPIs, working collaboratively with brand, analytics, paid media, and website teams.

Drive optimization of digital experiences for both traditional search engines and AI-powered platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude.

Lead keyword, topic cluster, and entity-based research to expand content authority and improve discoverability across search and AI ecosystems.

Design and implement internal linking, on-page optimization, and content strategies that improve engagement, rankings, and AI citation frequency.

Stay ahead of industry shifts — core algorithm updates, evolving AI search behaviors, and zero-click experiences — and pivot strategy as needed.

Technical SEO & GEO

Deliver technical SEO/GEO recommendations that improve crawlability and site architecture including: URL and navigation structure, canonicalization, crawlability, and indexability, Schema markup, structured data, and AI-readiness signals, HTML & XML sitemaps, robots.txt, Core Web Vitals, and page speed, and Title, header, image, keyword, and meta description tags.

Work with web team, developers and publishers, to ensure best practice implementation.

Content Strategy & Optimization

Partner with content and product marketing teams to create search-optimized, AI-friendly content that supports the full customer journey.

Provide social SEO and GEO recommendations, connecting organic strategy with content publishing efforts across owned and third-party platforms (Reddit, forums, affiliate/paid content placements).

Partner with PR on outreach strategy to expand earned visibility.

Performance & Reporting

Partner with marketing analytics to build measurement frameworks that quantify AI search visibility, answer engine performance, and overall GEO effectiveness.

Analyze performance data across platforms such as Google Analytics 4, Search Console, SEMrush, Profound, and Ahrefs to identify growth opportunities and optimize strategy.

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Influence

Influence cross-functional teams — web, content, product marketing, PR, and paid media stakeholders — to align on search strategy and ensure consistent execution.

Lead day-to-day relationships with external SEO/GEO vendors and agency partners.

Communicate complex search and AI insights in a clear, compelling way to leadership and non-technical stakeholders.

Our Ideal Teammate Will:

Bring both technical depth and strategic vision — equally comfortable in the weeds of a crawl audit and presenting a GEO roadmap to the CMO.

Be a self-starter who can flex between strategic thinking and tactical execution, comfortable navigating ambiguity in a fast-evolving landscape.

Have a genuine passion for AI-powered search and the curiosity to keep pace with how LLMs, agentic frameworks, and generative platforms are reshaping discovery.

Think in systems — connecting SEO, content, analytics, and brand into a coherent, measurable visibility strategy.

Demonstrate outstanding analytical skills and proven experience in performance optimization, with the communication skills to make data land with any audience.

Collaborate naturally while taking clear ownership; flag when support is needed and rally the right people around a shared goal.

SuperPowers Required:

5+ years of experience in SEO, digital marketing, or content strategy, preferably within a travel, hospitality, or consumer brand environment.

Technically familiar with large language models (LLMs), AI agent frameworks, schema markup, and web architecture.

Comfortable making updates directly within CMS.

Expertise in technical SEO, on-page optimization, content strategy, and search performance measurement.

Experience developing strategies for AI search visibility, including citation tracking and answer engine optimization.

Demonstrated experience influencing cross-functional stakeholders — aligning teams on strategy and execution without direct authority.

Proficiency in Google Workspace; comfort with analytics and reporting tools such as GA4, Tableau, or Looker.

What Matters to Us:

At Virgin, your personality matters as much as how good you are at what you do. We want you to bring it to our hangout spot and help make the place even better. So, we won’t be surprised to hear that when people talk about you they say you are clever, on top of it, able to think ahead, intuitive, passionate and someone people respect and enjoy working with because you make things happen.

"Virgin Voyages is committed to being an Equal Opportunity Employer and encourages applications from qualified, eligible applicants regardless of their sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, pregnancy and maternity. Our greatest strength comes from our ability to come together as unique individuals -- we seek to always embrace and celebrate our differences, providing an inclusive workplace environment that allows you to be your best self. Virgin Voyages is not accepting unsolicited assistance from search firms for this employment opportunity. All resumes submitted by search firms to any employee at Virgin Voyages via-email, the Internet or in any form and/or method without a valid written Statement of Work in place for this position from Virgin Voyages HR/Recruitment will be deemed the sole property of Virgin Voyages. No fee will be paid in the event the candidate is hired by Virgin Voyages as a result of the referral or through other means."

"I'm often asked what it is that makes Virgin different. The simple answer is — our people." Sir Richard Branson

We couldn’t agree more. Our Crew are at the heart of everything we do. They bring the passion, personality, creativity, and care that make Virgin Voyages feel different from anything else at sea. We came together to build the kind of cruise company the industry had never seen before, and doing things the usual way was never really the plan. No stuffy formalities. No cookie-cutter experiences. No “that’s just how it’s always been done.” Just bold ideas, genuine hospitality, and plenty of personality. That takes people who are curious, collaborative, and ready to make an impact. People who care deeply about what they do, bring their own perspective, and are not afraid to question the expected or shake things up when there is a better way. Most of all, it takes people who want to show up every day and be the reason someone smiles. Whether you join us Shipboard or Shoreside, you’ll be part of a Crew that looks out for one another, brings our brand to life, and believes great work can still have a little personality. If you’re looking for predictable, we’re probably not it. But if you want to be part of something bold, people-first, and genuinely different, welcome, you’ll fit right in.
