What is a Google freelance?

A Google Freelance job typically refers to project-based or temporary work performed for Google as an independent contractor rather than a full-time employee. Freelancers may work on tasks such as writing, design, software development, digital marketing, or localization, often through third-party agencies or platforms. These roles offer flexibility and varied experiences, but usually do not provide the same benefits as full-time employment at Google. Freelancers are responsible for managing their own schedules, taxes, and sometimes finding their own projects or clients.

What are some common challenges faced by Google freelancers when integrating with in-house teams?

Google Freelancers often work remotely and may collaborate with multiple in-house teams across different time zones and project scopes. A common challenge is quickly adapting to Google's fast-paced culture and acquiring a clear understanding of the team's communication tools, project management systems, and workflow expectations. Building strong relationships remotely and ensuring alignment with project goals requires proactive communication and flexibility. However, freelancers can overcome these challenges by being responsive, seeking regular feedback, and actively participating in team meetings and updates.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Google Ads freelancer, and why are they important?

To excel as a Google Ads Freelancer, you need a solid understanding of digital marketing principles, campaign management, and data analysis, often supported by Google Ads certifications. Familiarity with platforms such as Google Ads, Google Analytics, and keyword research tools is essential. Strong communication, problem-solving abilities, and adaptability help you collaborate with clients and optimize campaigns. These skills are crucial for delivering measurable results, building client trust, and staying competitive in the evolving digital advertising landscape.

Job description

Google Ads Specialist (Contract / Freelance / Remote) — Part-Time, Hourly
Solaire Vision

Read carefully before applying: This is a part-time, hourly contract engagement. It is not a path to full-time employment, and candidates currently prioritizing full-time roles should not apply.

About the Role
Solaire Vision already runs Google Ads in-house with solid, measurable results. We're not looking for someone to build from scratch or to guess at what's wrong — we're looking for an experienced specialist who can audit a working account, find what an outsider with sharp instincts would find, and prove they can beat our current numbers with data, not assumptions.

Responsibilities

  • Audit, rebuild, and manage Google Ads Search campaigns for a multi-location optometry practice
  • Own conversion tracking accuracy, including enhanced conversions and non-branded conversion measurement
  • Develop and refine keyword strategy, ad copy, negative keyword lists, and bidding strategy
  • Report on performance with a focus on non-branded lead volume and true cost per conversion — not vanity metrics
  • Provide monthly written reporting and strategic recommendations

    What Will Disqualify an Application

    • Full strategic plans or proposals submitted before an initial conversation. We will not review speculative "90-day plans" — they signal a template, not account knowledge, and will not be read.
    • No US work authorization and/or not being physically present in the United States; you must be in the US and have US work authorization to apply for this position.

    Qualifications

    • Demonstrated experience managing Google Ads Search campaigns with measurable results
    • Medical industry experience preferred
    • Optometry experience - OR - luxury retail marketing experience  preferred
    • Fluency in conversion tracking setup and honest performance reporting (ability to distinguish genuine non-branded lead growth from tracking or branded-term manipulation)

Proof of Work Requested at Application
In lieu of a speculative plan, please submit one specific example: a real account (anonymized if needed) where you inherited an already-functioning campaign and improved it — include your actual before/after CPL or CPA numbers, and specify whether those numbers include branded search.

    Engagement Structure & Anticipated Hours

    • Month 1 (Build): 20–30 hours
    • Month 2 (Early Optimization): 8–15 hours
    • Month 3+ (Maintenance): 4–10 hours/month

Compensation: $45-50/hour, structured around the hours per phase outlined above.

    Application Process

    1. Résumé screen
    2. One recruiter screening call (15–20 min)
    3. One final interview with the practice's Google Ads decision-maker — this is the only and final interview
      No additional rounds.
