Job Overview
The Senior Associate Director is responsible for the creation, coordination, and execution of direct response fundraising content for Georgetown University Medical Center's (GUMC) annual giving constituencies-both medical school and medical center affiliates. As part of the GUMC Annual Giving team, the role works in coordination with the Office of Advancement and University Communications, as well as with multiple stakeholders across GUMC units, to develop engaging fundraising communications that drive fundraising results aligned with the university's giving goals and priorities. The role creates and manages the necessary operational workflows to deliver high-quality, timely content.
Position Responsibilities
  • Develop compelling mass market fundraising messaging across channels, working closely across teams to source and repurpose content aligned with GUMC's fundraising goals and institutional priorities for the annual giving program.
  • Coordinate, write, and edit direct response, multi-channel fundraising content, including appeals and stewardship for a variety of audiences.
  • With the support of the Director, manage creative and content timelines, workflows, and approvals for multiple fundraising campaigns at once across the internal team and external partners.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in copywriting, project management, content development, and fundraising; or commensurate skills and experience.
  • Experience writing for medical research and/or an academic nonprofit organization
  • Strong ability to translate complex concepts into clear, concise, and compelling content
  • Able to juggle multiple projects and work in a collaborative and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Proven ability to function effectively in highly complex organizational environments.
  • Experience in the academic and/or healthcare sector preferred.
  • Strong creativity and communication abilities, including collateral production.
  • Desire to contribute to and participate in the mission of Georgetown University and its Medical Center.
  • Professional and collegial demeanor and ability to exercise diplomacy.
  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively.
  • Strong technical/computer skills, including Microsoft applications (particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access) and Google Suite.

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$47,586.00 - $87,558.13
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
