Job Summary:

As the Senior Civil Construction Project Manager, you will ultimately be responsible for leading large-scale civil construction projects involving utility and fiber trenching, deep excavation, and multi-site operations. You will manage project planning, execution, budgets, schedules, and cross-functional teams while delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality construction projects. As the Senior Civil Construction Project Manager, your customers are internal construction teams, clients, subcontractors, utility providers, and project stakeholders, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company's success through operational excellence, project leadership, and quality project delivery.

Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables for heavy civil trenching and excavation projects
  • Develop detailed project work plans, schedules, cost estimates, resource allocations, and progress reports
  • Lead and oversee large-scale trenching operations for utility and fiber installations, including deep excavations ranging from 10–30 feet
  • Coordinate multiple construction crews, subcontractors, and vendors across large multi-site projects
  • Monitor project performance, analyze schedules and budgets, and implement corrective actions to maintain project objectives
  • Ensure compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and company safety requirements
  • Lead internal, client, and stakeholder meetings to communicate project status, resolve issues, and maintain strong customer relationships
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, increase productivity, and reduce project cycle times
  • Maintain accurate project schedules, documentation, reporting, and project tracking systems
  • Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs

Required Qualifications:

Education, Licensing, and Certifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field preferred
  • Valid driver's license

Experience

  • 10+ years of project management experience in heavy civil construction
  • Proven experience managing large-scale trenching, excavation, utility, and fiber installation projects
  • Experience managing deep excavation projects ranging from 10–30 feet
  • Experience with site development, grading, earthwork, underground utility infrastructure, and civil construction
  • Experience managing Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant (ISP) construction projects

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to oversee multiple crews and subcontractors
  • Excellent communication, organizational, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while meeting aggressive schedules
  • Advanced knowledge of trenching, excavation safety requirements, and heavy equipment operations
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office Suite, Sitetracker, Procore, Visio, Google Earth, and other project management software
  • Ability to analyze project performance data and implement process improvements
  • Strong customer relationship management and stakeholder communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field
  • Civil construction or telecommunications construction background
  • Experience working with government agencies, municipalities, and utility providers
  • Strong relationship management skills with clients and regulatory agencies
  • Experience leading large-scale fiber deployment and underground utility construction projects

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel domestically as business needs require
  • Ability to visit active construction sites and conduct field inspections
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and navigate uneven terrain for extended periods
  • Ability to work in office and outdoor construction environments under varying weather conditions
  • Ability to safely access excavation sites and construction work zones
