Minimum qualifications:
  • JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of attorney-level experience in government, in-house, or at a law firm.
  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience providing legal advice from product development to launch.
  • Experience in digital media, ad technology (ad tech), or programmatic advertising.
  • Understanding complex and emerging technologies and products, and for talking shop with product, engineering, and business teams.
  • Understanding of one or more major international regulations affecting online platforms and advertising (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, DMA, DSA, AIA, COPPA).

Responsibilities
  • Act as product counsel for new and existing Ads products, features, and policies, providing legal advice to product management, engineering, business, user experience, communications, ads privacy and safety (APAS) and other cross-functional teams.
  • Advise product and engineering teams on global regulations across privacy, competition, content, and kids regulations, including GDPR and US State privacy laws, DMA, DSA, AIA, and evolving AdTech regulations.
  • Develop and maintain legal strategy for advertising practices related to user data, ads personalization, and evolving consent and transparency frameworks, ensuring adherence to Google policies and privacy controls.
  • Develop and maintain legal strategy for competition inquiries and restrictions, including supporting the on-going global AdTech matters.
  • Partner with legal and regulatory affairs teams to prepare responses and defenses for regulatory inquiries and legal issues in major markets (e.g., global competition issues).
