Goodwill of Central Iowa is looking for an ambitious and visionary Multi-Unit Retail Support Manager to lead and support multi-unit donated-goods retail teams with our values of love, kindness, and respect.
Hours & Schedules:
  • Full-Time (40 hours/week)
  • No retail holiday season! Shifts may be scheduled Monday - Saturday: 8 am - 10 pm and Sunday: 11 am - 6 pm
  • This position requires a flexible schedule to manage any store location or shift and support business needs.

Pay & Benefits:
  • Base pay + Monthly bonus opportunity! Base pay range: $45k - $56k annually, dependent upon relevant years of experience with exciting monthly bonus opportunities.

Position Summary:
The Multi-Unit Support Manager is responsible for reviewing and advising on store processes at multiple stores to achieve KPIs (key performance indicators), operational excellence through DGR (Donated Goods Retail) processes, excellent customer service, positive culture, and employee learning and development. In collaboration with the Retail team, they assist in training and developing team members, planning projects and processes, measuring store and team successes, leading teams, advising on inventory control, quality standards, and customer service.
What you'll do here:
  • Works in collaboration with Retail Leadership team to assist in leading, coaching, developing, and engaging team members to grow in their careers and meet department and organization goals.
  • Works closely with Store Managers and Retail Leadership on training strategies with a goal of retaining and developing team members to work within our values of love, kindness, and respect while monitoring and advising on DGR processes.
  • Models a positive and respectful leadership environment through relationship development and communication.
  • Analyzes processes and issues to find solutions or partners with Retail Leadership to make recommendations on solutions.
  • Provides effective coaching, delivers informal performance feedback; ensures Store Managers have support and resources needed to manage and train their teams.
  • Visits stores consistently based on business needs while leading by example to coach and engage staff.
  • Works within Goodwill of Central Iowa territory, assisting stores and supporting Store Management teams onsite as needed during manager leaves of absence or time off, store changes, process changes, or training and performance gaps.
  • Provides management coverage to retail stores as needed if a Store Management team member is not able to be at their store.
  • Effectively assists in carrying out change management initiatives and communication in alignment with Retail Leadership.
  • May assist in analyzing expenses, production goals, and workforce hours to drive revenue, implement processes, and make recommendations to affect store performance.
  • Uses the organizational strategic plan and the retail department goals to drive the Retail Department's contribution to fund the mission of Goodwill.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What you'll need:
  • Able to successfully lead, develop, coach and train others.
  • Ability to travel consistently within Goodwill of Central Iowa territory and work at any of GCI's retail stores for brief or extended periods of time.
  • Communicate effectively in written and verbal formats.
  • Demonstrate and apply concepts related to the supervision of retail store activities, such as hiring, training, inventory control, management competencies, employee development, sales/marketing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Perform data and financial analysis, complete financial reports and facilitate presentations.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Pass an MVR and criminal background check. Have a valid Drivers License, a good driving record and provide proof of personal vehicle insurance with a minimum of $100,000 per person and $300,000 per accident auto insurance liability coverage.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years of management or leadership experience required.
  • Minimum two-year degree and/or equivalent skills and/or experience.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to regularly carry, lift, push or pull 40 pounds.
  • Ability to tolerate variations in work environment temperature.
  • Ability to remain stationary for long periods of time.
  • Ability to travel and work across retail stores, warehouse, and headquarters locations
