Job description

JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Chief Lending Officer, the Commercial Lender will work independently to cultivate and develop relationships with local businesses and real estate investors to grow our existing loan portfolio. The incumbent will also be responsible for managing an existing loan portfolio of C&I and CRE relationships with loan relationships up to $4,000,000 in size.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Evaluates loan documentation, analyzes the credit history of applicants and determines loan repayment capabilities prior to submission to the Bank's Credit Department; negotiates credit terms such as costs, loan repayment methods, and collateral specifications within Loan Policy guidelines to originate profitable commercial loans; fully underwrites new credits and extensions of, and modifications to existing credit
  • Manages a commercial loan portfolio ensuring timely handling and processing of upcoming loan maturities, renewals, updated financial statements, advance request, etc. to ensure overall loan compliance and maintain asset quality
  • Monitors loan repayment activities and takes necessary actions to collect from past due accounts
  • Keeps abreast of the economic condition of the market (competition, demographics, etc.)
  • Reviews new laws and regulations that influence business lending within the financial institution and makes recommendations to management when necessary
  • Generate leads and referrals to other business lines within the Bank, including residential/consumer loans, insurance and investments.
  • Participates in community activities to develop new business and establish goodwill in the community
  • Must have a thorough understanding of all Bank products and services as well as knowledge of all related banking and compliance laws.
  • Other job duties, as assigned.

Qualifications
Education
  • Degree in Finance or Business or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a commercial lender

Skills and Experience
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication, and computer skills
  • Strong commercial real estate expertise a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required along with a proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of Programs/Products.
  • Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, contracts, credit and financial documents as well as other legal documents as needed.
  • Ability to present, sell and service bank products as well as demonstrate professional knowledge of commercial lending.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical capabilities as well as an understanding of credit underwriting and loan documentation.
