Job description

The AbilityOne® Program is a federal initiative and the largest source of employment for people who are blind or have severe disabilities. Through a national network of more than 550 nonprofit agencies, the program provides the federal government with products and services at fair market prices.

Contracts under the AbilityOne Program offer federal customers high-quality products available through various distributors at reasonable prices and delivered when needed. AbilityOne service contracts offer a stable workforce dedicated to quality and customer satisfaction.
Job Summary:
Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms. Sweeping and mopping hard surface flooring. Vacuuming carpets. Cleaning stairwells. Disinfecting touch points and surfaces. Cleaning window glass on entry doors and office windows. Cleaning employee lunch rooms. Dusting. Emptying trash receptacles and shredding machines.
Rate of Pay: $18.50 per hour and $5.09 per hour Health and Welfare rate
Location: Burlington, Vermont
Is additional clearance required? Yes, along with the agency background check, employees must apply for clearance and badging through the Government agency Department of transportation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Performs routine custodial duties, including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies.
  2. Performs routine maintenance of custodial equipment and supplies.
  3. Empties trash receptacles and dispose of trash into compactors and/or dumpsters and bags trash for proper disposal.
  4. Unlocks doors, ensuring doors are locked after cleaning areas.
  5. Reports needs and concerns to Project Manager, including checking supply levels.
  6. Ensures proper care in using and maintaining equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.

Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Less than high school; no previous experience required.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
  • Ability to operate vacuums and other related equipment.
  • Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to read, understands, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communications.

Conditions of Employment:
  • Must meet program eligibility requirements
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Must pass a government background to acquire a PIV access badge.
