Position Description:
Provides critical services to Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA) and its affiliated entities related to theft deterrent and initial incident response. Plays a crucial role in ensuring the security and safety of facilities, staff, and customers. This position involves monitoring and interacting with day-to-day security protocols and procedures to reduce overnight shrink, facility protection, and coordination of incident resolution. Focuses on optimizing processes, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction while protecting Company assets. Monitors and maintains security surveillance systems, conducts patrols, and responds to incidents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Continuously monitors security events, logs, alerts, and other data sources to identify potential and current security incidents, and resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Using technology, monitors sites and identifies potential risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Acts swiftly and effectively during emergency situations, such as thefts, burglaries, fires, medical emergencies, workplace violence, or natural disasters. Follows established emergency response procedures, assists in evacuations, and supports emergency personnel as needed.
  • Monitors and controls access to the facility, ensuring only authorized individuals enter designated areas. Verifies identification issuing staff and visitor badges, and maintains visitor logs. Enforces Company policies regarding access and visitor management.
  • Provides an appropriate response to security incidents, including the scope and impact, and implements appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Proactively searches for indicators of compromise, advances, persistent threats, and other malicious activities that may go undetected by automated security systems.
  • Monitors and prioritizes incident queues, assigning and reassigning incidents as necessary to ensure a timely and efficient resolution.
  • Collaborates with all Company divisions to promote security awareness by providing guidance to customers on Company processes.
  • Communicates effectively with colleagues, visitors, and external stakeholders to provide information, guidance, and assistance regarding security matters.
  • Maintains awareness of local emergency services and law enforcement agencies to establish effective communication in emergency situations.
  • Collaborates with customers to ensure satisfaction by maintaining effective communication channels that enhance the customer experience.
  • Prepares accurate and detailed reports on security and safety incidents, observations, and daily activities.
  • Maintains proper documentation of incidents, including photographs, videos, and written reports to assist with investigations and legal requirements.
  • Monitors and responds accordingly to alarms, Closed Circuit Television, remote monitoring, and emergency incidents with a calm and professional approach.
  • Monitors event logs, alerts, and other security data sources to identify abnormalities, perform root cause analysis, providing recommendations to prevent similar incidents in the future.
  • Collaborates with other departments to ensure that security and technology measures are integrated into the overall business strategy.
  • Must have a valid state-issued driver's license. Ability to safely operate reliable personal vehicles, and Company vehicles, including the process of renting and operating rental vehicles. Travel by vehicle as the driver, to multiple sites, often with little notice, to any locations operated by the Company or vendor. Travel to conferences and training locations are required.
  • Reviews communications in a timely manner, checking for issues and addressing them appropriately.
  • Performs live video surveillance to detect and resolve theft, property security issues, and critical incidents.
  • Maintains all related investigation training and certifications.
  • Conducts Asset Protection training to improve quality and performance.
  • Attends all meetings as required to promote, and maintain systems and department services.
  • Maintains regular and consistent in-person attendance.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):
  • High School Diploma preferred.
  • Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate and understand instructions, both verbal and written, in English.
  • Bilingual skills are helpful but not required.
  • Ability to prioritize duties daily, manage multiple tasks/audits, and discern the information given for appropriate next steps.
  • Ability to make appropriate decisions in stressful situations.
  • Ability to use strategic thought processes to minimize exposure to emerging threats and trends.
  • Ability to analyze information, identify root causes, and develop/implement approved solutions in stressful situations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, and manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal laws and regulations pertaining to operations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance as the organization requires.
  • Valid driver's license and clean MVR.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen, where applicable, for the position.
  • Ability to speak and read English proficiently.
