JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for operating the POS system, computer, and credit card machine accurately. He or she assists customers in a professional and courteous manner. Responsible for following all guidelines and procedures of the Push System. He or she is responsible to Team Lead and Assistant Team Lead.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Obtain job tasks and duties daily from the Team Lead, Assistant Team Lead or Third Key Associate.

  • He or she must accurately operate the cash register, fax machine, and credit card verification terminal.

  • Must be a team player. He or she must actively participate in team meetings to improve sales, inventory levels, inventory floor plan, Push System process, and customer service.
  • Responsible for providing professional customer/donor service. Be responsive to all customer inquiries. Greet and say "THANK YOU" to all customers and donors that enter the retail location.

  • Responsible for answering the telephone in a professional and courteous manner and directing calls to the appropriate party.

  • Become familiar with our Goodwill Mission and activities, in order to answer donor/customer inquiries and provide adequate information about the store, processing center, transportation/donation sites and the corporation.

  • Must know and follow the set guidelines and procedures of the Push System in placement and rotation of merchandise onto and off of the sales floor. Maintains sales floor inventory at proper levels.

  • Assists in displaying merchandise attractively to draw customer interest (on sales floor, in windows).

  • Complete cash settlement report and any other reports as directed by Team Lead or Assistant Team Lead.

  • Adhere to Goodwill methods of payment policy.

  • Inform Team Lead or Assistant Team Lead of any supply or inventory shortages.

  • Maintain confidentiality of sales information.

  • Follow and maintain all established security procedures.

  • Follow and maintain all safety procedures at all times.

  • Maintain a safe and orderly work environment at all times.

  • All other duties as assigned by the Team Lead and Assistant Team Lead.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Ability to operate POS system, credit card terminal; take money as well as credit cards.

  • MUST maintain accurate cash and balance with cashier settlement report.

  • Ability to count back and give customer the correct change.

  • Ability to follow instructions.

  • Have knowledge of current trends and styles to aid in displaying inventory.

  • Ability to work a varied schedule and flexible hours Sunday thru Saturday of each week.

  • Ability to work independently and responsibly.

  • Ability to project a positive image of Goodwill to the customers/donors.

  • Ability to communicate with customers and donors professionally. Answer customer and donor questions and concerns or refer them to the Team Lead, Assistant Team Lead or Third Key Associate.

  • Able to professionally communicate and be a team player with co-workers and supervisors.

Training and Experience:


  • POS system and computer skills

  • Able to count and do math.

  • Able to read, write and complete paperwork.

  • High school graduate or GED preferred.

  • Prior cash register and checkout experience preferred.

  • Prior retail sales floor/inventory experience preferred.

  • Must be able to make simple decisions.

  • Must be able to understand and carry out instructions.

  • Must be able to perform as a team player with co-workers and supervisors.

  • Employment history that demonstrates ability to work independently.

Physical/Sensory Demands:


  • Ability to move throughout the store, shipment/return area, and donation center site.

  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop and reach for eight (8) hours or more if necessary.

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 35 pounds as required.

  • Satisfactory eyesight: Visually distinguish methods of payment, and follow appropriate procedures.

  • Ability to grasp merchandise for packaging, organization and display.
