Job description

Six full-time, temporary openings exist this summer with the County of Blair Public Works Department. Hires will be assigned to a road crew, work Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and perform a variety of tasks that support the day-to-day productivity of the department. For instance, duties are nearly exclusively outdoors and can include mowing, weed-whacking, brush removal, power-washing bridge surfaces, painting bridges, and cleaning drains/culverts. Hires must be able to sustain the physical nature of the job, occasionally lift and carry up to 30 pounds, and operate small power equipment. Consistent, regular presence at work site(s) is also required.

Requirements

Qualified applicants must be at least 18 years old, hold a high school diploma or GED OR be graduated from either by date of hire, possess attention to detail even with monotonous responsibilities, possess a willingness to learn, and, ideally, be available to work between mid-May and mid-August. Hiring preference is given to prior summer employees in good standing and children of existing County of Blair Employees.
