JOB TITLE: OSA Lab Technician
DEPARTMENT: Process
LOCATION: Robinson Mine - Ruth, NV
PAY GRADE: N/A
POSITION REPORTS TO: Metallurgical Engineer
ROTATING SHIFT: Yes ◼ (5/4 - 4/5 Schedule: 2 Weeks Days/2 Weeks Nights)

Purpose & Scope of The Position:
Help maintain and ensure that the OSA, PSA, sample pumps, and MUX remain in an operative state, enter data, troubleshoot, and communicate with the maintenance and met groups. Ability to learn general replacement and repair of pumps and other miscellaneous parts. Required as directed to train in and assist in basic lab functions in both Met lab and Assay lab which includes preparation and analysis of samples using a variety of prep and assay techniques: floatation, loading samples into ovens, Jaw Crusher, CRM, Boyd, Disc Pulverize, splitting, blending, and weighing and digesting samples for assay analysis (could include wet digestion and fire assay). Possess the ability to work safely in a Team Environment.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Meet safety, environmental, attendance, and performance standards.
  • Troubleshoot and inspect the OSA systems.
  • Data entry responsibilities.
  • Ability to learn and understand sampling, calibration, maintenance, software, and mill flow.
  • Troubleshooting responsibilities.
  • Ensure OSA is working properly and OSA calibration is meeting specifications.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and heights.
  • Maintenance/Repair on OSA/PSA/MUX analyzer.
  • General checking and cleaning of screens, sumps, drains, and sensors.
  • Hole watch responsibilities.
  • Laboratory Cleanup responsibilities.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively.
  • Recommend safety enhancements and improvements.
  • Process improvement and streamlining abilities.
  • Ability to understand and follow SOPs.
  • Ability to accept change.
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • The successful candidate must believe in and practice safety.
  • Must possess good multitasking and interpersonal skills.
  • Determine if a procedure, piece of equipment, activity or condition is unsafe and initiate appropriate action as needed to resolve.
  • Prep and properly handle incoming samples.
  • Exhibit a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment with ever-changing conditions.
  • Planning work efficiently with or without a team.
  • Follow safe work procedures and best practices.
  • Willingness to perform other duties as necessary to ensure the success of KGHM.

Required Education, Work Experience & Training:
  • A valid Driver's License.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Education, Work Experience & Training:
  • General non-skilled labor: basic physical abilities to perform hands-on tasks.
  • Mechanical and maintenance skills are preferred.

Technical Skills:
  • Basic knowledge of computers, familiarity with Word, Excel, Lims System and spreadsheets is preferred.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical, including drug and alcohol testing.
  • Ability to meet the required physical demands, including exerting 50-100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 25-50 pounds of force frequently and/or 10-20 pounds of force constantly.
