Job description

Summary of Job Skate guards shall be responsible for the safe operation and supervision of the ice surface and the immediate surrounding area during and after public skating times. Position is 5 - 10 hours per week; evenings and weekends Tasks Routinely Performed THE SKATEGUARD MUST: Be able to skate proficiently. Enforce Ice Arena rules and regulations on the ice surface as well as the immediate surrounding area.

Be consistent with enforcement. Ensure the safety of all skaters during public skating sessions and assist all those who need help. Monitoring the attendees that have paid to skate.

Ensure that the area around ice arena surface is in a clean and safe environment. Remain on the ice or within view of entire ice surface at all times. Be prepared to execute Emergency Action Plan.

Record all injuries on an Incident Report Form in a timely manner after attending to the patrons' needs. Follow universal precautions for infection control as stated in the K.B. Willett employee manual

Assist in all janitorial work required after public skate times. Have knowledge of K.B. Willett policies and procedures outlined in the employee manual

Communicate with supervisors as needed. Qualifications Must have skating ability to enforce rink rules and effectively aide injured patrons. Must have and be able to demonstrate good public relation skills.

Must be able to get along and work with fellow employees. Must have the ability to communicate effectively. Must be able to work in cold, damp, hot, or loud conditions.

Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required. Must be able to bend, twist, and squat occasionally for 6-8 hours per day and lift 50-100 pounds. Ability to read/write and follow verbal and written directions.

Must be able to continuously walk or stand for 4-8 hours. Must be able to operate point of sale software and cash drawer. Must be proficient in mathematics.
