Job description

Job Summary
Under supervision, will be required to perform welding repair and maintenance to stationary production related equipment, machinery and structures such as, conveyors, crushers, elevators, drives and screws at aggregate, ready-mix and asphalt plants. Tack welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment. Cuts work piece, using powered saws, hand shears, or chipping knife. Melts lead bar, wire or scrap to add lead to joint or to extrude melted scrap into reusable form. Installs or repairs equipment, such as, catwalks, ladders and other minor repair. Removes rough spots form work piece, using portable grinder, hand file or scraper. Heats, forms and dresses metal parts, using hand tools, torch or arc welding equipment. Ignites torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc. Welder is expected to weld, lay out, fit, position, secure parts and assemblies and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms, such as machinery frames, walkways according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and ruler.
Essential Functions
Ability to weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
Ability to work in high and/or precarious places or cramped work space that requires getting into awkward positions.
Must have good manual dexterity and hand eye coordination.
Must be able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; grip, climb, reach, shovel, squat, crawl, or pull, push, as well as, bend and lift up to 45 pounds.
Sufficient level language and math to read technical manuals, record repairs on report forms, operate welding machine, and perform other tasks
Must be able to perform preventative maintenance repairs in accordance with established procedures
Prepare the welding area and weld joints
Ability to read and interpret welding blueprints
Maintain daily reports as required by Company regulations
Monitor the welding process and make adjustments as needed
May be required to operate forklift, man lift, as needed
Assist in maintenance and organization of welding equipment and work area
Comply with all Safety, Health, Environmental and other Company policies, procedures and requirements
Employee will be required to learn how to use a variety of hand and power tools, they include but are not limited to a cutting torch, welding equipment to rebuild and fabricate parts.

Safety Awareness- Ability to recognize, understand, and adhere to safety protocols and procedures in the workplace; proactive in identifying potential hazards, taking steps to mitigate risks, and ensuring that both personal and collective safety are maintained in all tasks and environments.

Attention to Detail- Ability to thoroughly and accurately complete tasks; meticulous and precise when handling information, and is critical in ensuring the quality, accuracy, and integrity of the results.
Problem Solving- identify, analyze, and resolve work-related issues efficiently and effectively using practical knowledge, experience, and hands-on skills. This involves identifying the problem, diagnosing the cause, finding practical solutions, implementing fixes, and adapting to unexpected challenges.Education
High School Diploma/GED or an equivalent combination of training and work experience.
Experience
This is an entry level position which requires welding skills with entry level aggregate experience.
High school or recreational welding experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must have knowledge to understand oral and written instructions of a technical nature relating to products and vehicles.
Must have knowledge to operate welding equipment to join metal components together.
Must have excellent driving skills and the ability to maintain satisfactory customer and public relations in performance of duties.
Good mechanical skills are required, knowledge of raw materials, production process is preferred.
Ability to read and interpret welding blueprints.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects.
Possess good mechanical and welding skills.
Other Requirements
Travel to other facilities maybe required.
Must be able to work required overtime and flexible work schedule.
The employee is outdoors and exposed to varying and/or extreme weather conditions (i.e., heat, wet, cold, etc.)
