Job Title: Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgeon Faculty Opportunity at Cincinnati Children's – Akron - JR216872

Date Available: March 25, 2026

Description

Cincinnati Children’s (CCHMC) is inviting applications for a Congenital Heart Surgeon. The selected faculty will join the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, a team dedicated to providing progressive surgical care for children with cardiothoracic pathology and for delivering that care. The division has a strong record in basic science, virtual reality, outcome, and translational research and collaborates with the Divisions of Cardiology, Molecular Cardiovascular Biology, and many other units throughout CCHMC. The division is one of the heart institute’s three integrated components—Cardiothoracic Surgery, Cardiology, and Molecular Cardiovascular Biology—an internationally respected multidisciplinary business unit.

While hired through CCHMC, the faculty appointment is granted by the University of Cincinnati (UC), creating a collaborative relationship with leadership in cardiothoracic surgery. Surgeons in the division may perform surgery at multiple locations. This position is for a full faculty member in the Congenital Heart Surgery lab, reporting to the Division Chief and participating in research efforts.

The selected candidate will operate primarily at CCHMC but may also support Cincinnati Children’s partner hospital systems such as Akron Children’s Hospital, Golisano Children’s Hospital at UK, Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital, Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital, and other domestic and international partners.

Faculty appointment will align with the applicant’s qualifications and experience, ranging from Assistant, Associate, or Professor within the University of Cincinnati Department of Pediatrics.

Requirements
  • Must hold an MD/DO degree or equivalent
  • Current active unrestricted medical license
  • Associate/Full Professor appointment
  • Board Certified/Eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery and Congenital Heart Surgery or the international equivalent
  • Appropriate medical credentialing through the Medical Staff Services office
  • Completion of all required CCHMC pre‑employment activities (screening, background check, badging, and orientation)
  • Must disclose any official disciplinary actions by a hospital, specialty board, medical association, or government agency
Desirable qualifications
  • Teaching and training competence in pediatrics for medical students, residents, and fellows
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
