Job purpose
The Assistant Golf Professional plays an essential role in supporting the Head Golf Professional and/or Director of Golf in delivering exceptional service and a high-quality golf experience to members and guests. This position assists with daily golf operations, including coordinating tee times, working alongside outside services, providing golf instruction, supporting tournaments, and promoting the game in alignment with the Club's standards of excellence.
Duties and responsibilities
  • Provide outstanding customer service and create a welcoming atmosphere for all members and guests.
  • Reconciles daily tee sheets, performs check-in, and receives payments from members and guests.
  • To organize and control play ensuring members and guests receive the best service and enjoyment during their day.
  • To assist in organizing, promoting and running tournaments, and other events, to help make them a success in line with Club policy.
  • To perform basic club repairs and custom fitting to the standard required to generate maximum customer satisfaction.
  • Provide private and group instructions for members and guests.
  • To organize and control the practice facilities ensuring that members and guests are able to practice according to the guidelines in place by The Club, The Head Golf Professional, and/or Director of Golf.
  • To offer the opportunity for members or any prospective clients or guests of The Club to play in a variety of formats, at The Club and/or in tournament play.
  • Manage and maintain an accurate account of golfer Handicaps.
  • Maintain Hole-in-one service standards as identified in the Golf Manual.
  • Organize, monitor, and maintain and adequate level of Golf shop operational supplies.
  • Operate within the guidelines, policies, standards, and constraints established by Hampton Golf.
  • Participate in member golf activities and provide golf instruction to members and guests.
  • Maintain membership within the PGA of America.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Qualifications include:
  • Registered PGA PGM Level 2 Associate working towards Class A. Class A Member preferred but not required
  • Previous experience in a golf-related role or relevant education in golf management, required
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Knowledge of golf equipment, rules, and etiquette.
  • Valid Drivers License

Working conditions
Work is primarily indoors. Potential exposure to sharp and rapid equipment movement, sharp utensils, harmful chemicals and/or being exposed to flying golf balls.

Physical requirements
Good organizational and verbal skills. Ability to use logical and rational thinking to resolve issues. Ability to perform basic mathematical skills, monitors and develops subordinates, visually monitor the operation areas, write and read member communication.
Must have the ability to perform moderate physical work and may be required to lift up to 50 lbs., up to 30 lbs. frequently. Perform activities such as bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, pushing, lifting and grasping for up to 5 hours without sitting.
Please be advised that all work that requires the use of a ladder more than 8 ft. long must be reviewed by Hampton Golf's Club Maintenance person. Following his assessment of the situation, he will determine if he or subcontractors will perform the necessary maintenance task. No other staff member is authorized to climb to heights exceeding 8 ft. and or perform such maintenance. In addition, personnel are prohibited from entering facility attics, walking on the roof of buildings, and/or prohibited from using scaffolding.
