Golf Operations Intern information

What is a golf operations intern?

Golf Operations Interns are individuals, often students or recent graduates, who assist in the daily operations of a golf facility or country club as part of an internship program. Their responsibilities typically include supporting the pro shop, managing tee times, assisting with tournaments and events, handling customer service, and maintaining golf carts and equipment. This role provides hands-on experience in golf course management and hospitality, helping interns learn about the business and operations side of the golf industry. It is an ideal opportunity for those interested in pursuing a career in golf management or related fields.

What kinds of responsibilities can a golf operations intern expect during a typical week?

As a Golf Operations Intern, you can expect a diverse range of responsibilities that might include assisting with tee time management, supporting tournament operations, maintaining the golf shop, and providing customer service to members and guests. You'll often work closely with the golf professional staff, grounds crew, and event coordinators to ensure daily operations run smoothly. This hands-on role offers valuable exposure to both the business and customer service aspects of the golf industry, preparing you for more advanced positions in golf management or hospitality.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a golf operations intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Golf Operations Intern, you typically need a basic knowledge of golf, strong organizational skills, and enrollment in or completion of a relevant degree program (such as sports management or hospitality). Familiarity with tee time reservation systems, golf cart management software, and point-of-sale (POS) systems is often required.
