Job description

General Purpose:
Offers superior customer service while selling merchandise and assisting management in merchandising, inventory control, reservations, and special events preparation.
 
Essential Duties:
  • Assists with development of buying plan and all golf merchandise related purchasing
  • Creates a diverse and desirable array of equipment, apparel, and accessories presentations
  • Maintains levels of product appropriate for the season and level of traffic through golf shop
  • Purchase supplies, fixtures, and fitting systems to provide conducive sales environment and promote sales
  • Maintain an attractive and orderly appearance in and around the golf shop
  • Maintains product documentation from purchase to sale, including orders, receiving records, invoices, vendor statements and custom/special-order records to document merchandise history
  • Conducts monthly physical inventory counts
  • Assist in the development of necessary systems utilizing POS to safeguard inventories
  • Monitors safeguarding of inventory and assets to reduce loss from theft, pilferage, defective/damaged goods, returns and markdowns
  • Establishes sales and inventory recordkeeping policies and procedures, provides training and ensures compliance by staff
  • Trains, motivates and develops golf shop staff to ensure effective sales, service, performance technique and product knowledge
  • Establish and ensure employee purchase policies are adhered to including accurate accounting of employee purchases
  • • Develop strategies to ensure member and guest satisfaction and maximize business performance and profitability
  • Manage vendor performance
  • Maintain collaborative partnership and negotiate effectively with vendors
Specific Daily Responsibilities – Include but are not limited to:
  • Project friendly, energetic and upbeat personality
  • Assist with all golf shop/counter duties
  • Keep shop organized and clean
  • Make sure all items remain neatly folded and hung
  • Tag and display all new items from the back room
  • Process, place, monitor and follow –up on special orders
  • Provide assistance to all members and guests on the shop floor
  • Promote new merchandise and all sale/promotional information
  • Offer extra services, i.e. gift wrapping, locker storage
Experience, Skills, and Traits:
  • Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf and golf merchandising concession operations
  • Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees
  • Strong organizational, planning and multi-tasking skills
  • Self-motivated with a desire to promote and market
  • Service and customer focused attitude
  • Remain up to date on customer relations management
  • Attend conferences, workshops, meetings and trade shows to keep abreast of current trends in the industry
  • Maintain and promote a positive professional image
  • Remain current on merchandising innovations, marketing and business trends
  • Experienced computer user including; Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficient in other applications and operating systems
