Job description

Wyckoff Country Club is seeking a dependable, hardworking Grounds Crew / Mechanic to help maintain our beautiful 18-hole golf course and keep our grounds equipment operating safely and efficiently. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has mechanical aptitude, and takes pride in maintaining high-quality equipment and grounds.

Position Summary

The Grounds Crew / Mechanic performs a combination of golf course maintenance and equipment repair. This individual is responsible for assisting with the daily maintenance of the golf course while also inspecting, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing golf course maintenance equipment to ensure it remains in safe working condition.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform routine golf course maintenance, including mowing, trimming, edging, raking bunkers, landscaping, and debris removal.
  • Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair golf course maintenance equipment and small engines.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, blade sharpening, belt replacement, tire repairs, and filter changes.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
  • Assist in setting up the golf course for daily play and special events.
  • Safely operate tractors, utility vehicles, mowers, and other grounds equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance shop.
  • Report equipment issues and recommend repairs or replacement when necessary.
  • Follow all OSHA safety standards and club safety procedures.
  • Assist with snow removal and other seasonal maintenance duties as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience in golf course maintenance, landscaping, groundskeeping, equipment maintenance, or a related field preferred.
  • Mechanical experience with small engines, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical troubleshooting is highly desirable.
  • Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Dependable with excellent attendance.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and reach for extended periods.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and humidity.
  • Operate power tools, hand tools, and motorized equipment safely.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the shift.
