JOB SUMMARY
The Head Men's & Women's Golf Coach will provide leadership for the Southern Nazarene University Golf Program. While leading all aspects of the SNU Men's & Women's Golf Programs, they will play an integral role in day-to-day administrative responsibilities, player/team spiritual development, daily team training, evaluation and recruitment of student-athletes, academic monitoring, budget ownership, and skill development of players. This position must work within SNU guidelines to provide student-athletes with an exceptional collegiate experience while competing for conference championships. They must have and demonstrate consistently a strong Christian faith and lifestyle while prioritizing the Mission of SNU "to make Christlike disciples through higher education".
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
  • Recruit NCAA Division II level student-athletes for golf ensuring timely submission of their academic records for admissions.
  • Direct graduate assistants and/or stipend assistant coaches in the overall planning and execution of the SNU Golf Program
  • Work with Financial Aid and SNU Athletics Compliance to determine accurate communication and implementation of scholarship awards.
  • Monitor academic progress and progress towards graduation of student-athletes, implementing action plans through appropriate staff when needed.
  • Monitor Chapel attendance and lead by example with regular attendance.
  • Monitor and maintain the discipline and conduct of student-athletes to support the image and reputation of SNU Golf and SNU Athletics
  • Plan the coaching and practice sessions in accordance with NCAA DII and Great American Conference (GAC) regulations
  • Coach team members individually and in groups.
  • Assist in developing and implementing round/golf course strategy
  • Coordinate with the Strength & Conditioning Coach the strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes.
  • Manage operational, budgetary, and administrative activities for SNU Golf
  • Work with the Assistant AD of Compliance to ensure adherence to all NCAA DII, GAC, and University rules by student-athletes, supporting staff and volunteers.
  • Continuing education within the sport of collegiate Golf
  • Pass all certifications/testing for NCAA Division II
  • Maintain SNU Golf facilities and equipment.
  • Be a Christlike example and create opportunities for student-athletes to grow and develop spiritually ensuring consistent movement towards SNU's Mission "to make Christlike disciples through higher education."

Required Qualifications:
  • Southern Nazarene University is an expression of the Church of the Nazarene.   • College graduate
  • Minimum of two years of related work experience and/or relevant training
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple demands in fast-paced work environment
  • Typing and spelling competency
  • Experience with various computer software applications
  • Data entry experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduate Degree
  • Some collegiate coaching experience

Supervision Received:
Receives supervision and work assignments from the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics
Supervision Exercised:
May be responsible for the coordination of work assignments for student employees, stipend coaches, and graduate assistants.
