Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs general repair and preventative maintenance on electric carts and gas golf carts; Performs diagnostic checks and repairs battery chargers as needed; Maintains scheduled checks on carts on a rotating basis, including replenishing water in batteries to maintain charging capacity.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:

Electrical-operated golf carts, gas-operated Cushman utility cart and beverage carts, general mechanic's tools and wrenches, acetylene and electric (arc) welding torch, voltmeter, tire changer and two-way radio.

MATERIALS:

Cart parts, batteries, tires, flat proofing for tires, towels, oil, gas, grease, cleaning clothes and solvent.

SOURCE AND NATURE OF SUPERVISION:

Receives immediate direction and supervision from the Lead Fleet Mechanic, Director of Golf, Golf Operations Manager, or Golf Shop Supervisor at the G/E and/or Blue GPS. Also receives work directions from the Director of Golf, Golf Operations Manager, Pro Shop Managers at the G/E and/or Blue GPS. 

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  1. Performs general repair and preventative maintenance of all golf carts, maintaining them in a safe, operational condition, minimizing cart breakdown and preventing hazardous conditions.
  2. Repairs and adjusts brakes, changes tires and seats, performs diagnostic checks and repairs battery charges.
  3. Welds broken parts for reinforcement purposes as required.
  4. Replenishes water in batteries and checks the charge output with a voltmeter to determine condition of battery.
  1. Operates a two-way radio to monitor cart breakdown on golf course.
  1. Provides each guest with the highest level of customer service in accordance with the Company’s Customer Service handbook.
  1. Observes all house rules and regulations including but not limited to safety regulations, following safe practices in the performance of duties, assigned tasks and practices good housekeeping in assigned work areas.

OTHER DUTIES:

May prepare written reports and maintain service/repair/preventative maintenance records for golf carts.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid driver's license.
  2. 2-3 years’ experience in mechanic repair and preventative maintenance.
  3. Previous experience in golf cart repair and maintenance helpful.
  4. Good to excellent verbal and written communication skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:

Regularly requires concentration and alertness, vision, hearing, attention to detail, standing, reaching, handling, eye/hand coordination, lifting/carrying/pulling/pushing of up to 20-30 lbs., operating of golf cart.

Frequently requires ability to understand verbal and/or written instructions from supervisors/others, work under minimal supervision with understanding of safety practices, walking, bending, stooping, eye-hand-foot coordination, talking/speaking to co-workers, lifting/carrying/pulling/pushing of up to 40 lbs.

Occasionally requires sitting, crouching/crawling, kneeling, climbing stairs/steps, operation of a light utility truck, driving/commuting to other work site areas, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling of up to 70 lbs, exposure to heat and sunlight, golf balls in play, fumes, gases, noises, chemical and herbicides, wet and other environmental working conditions associated with working on and around golf courses. 

Visual capabilities required: good to excellent vision, depth perception, wide field of vision and color vision.

Job experiences approximately 6 hours indoors and 2 hours outdoors.
