What is a golf course?

A golf course is a large outdoor area designed for playing the sport of golf. It typically consists of a series of holes, each with a teeing area, fairway, rough, hazards (such as sand bunkers and water), and a green with a flagstick and hole. Golf courses can vary in size and layout but usually have either 9 or 18 holes. They require regular maintenance to keep the grass and landscaping in optimal condition for play. Golf courses may also include practice facilities, clubhouses, and other amenities for players.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a golf course superintendent, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Golf Course Superintendent, you need expertise in turfgrass management, landscape maintenance, and usually a degree in agronomy or a related field. Familiarity with irrigation systems, turf management software, and certifications such as GCSAA are typically required. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills help manage teams and interact with club members effectively. These skills ensure the course remains in top condition for play, meets environmental standards, and delivers a positive experience for golfers.

Job description

Our People-First Club
We believe great hospitality starts with great people. Our team is passionate about creating memorable experiences while supporting one another through a culture of teamwork, respect, and growth. Whether you're just starting your career or bringing years of experience, we value individuals who take pride in service and want to be part of something bigger than themselves. Together, we work hard, have fun, and make a meaningful impact every day.
Your Impact
As a Cart Attendant at Greenville Country Club, you help set the tone for a smooth, enjoyable round by keeping golf operations organized and member-ready. This role exists to ensure carts, staging, and key support areas are consistently prepared throughout the day.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing, staging, and detailing golf carts for daily use
- Assisting with bag handling and member requests at arrival and departure
- Keeping practice and cart areas tidy, stocked, and orderly
- Supporting the golf staff with routine tasks that keep play moving
Required qualifications/skills:
- Dependable, professional, and service-oriented
- Comfortable working outdoors in changing weather and standing for long periods
- Clear communication, teamwork, and attention to detail
- Willing to learn; golf knowledge is a plus, not required
If you take pride in reliable service and being part of a coordinated team, apply today.
A Shift Outdoors
You'll start by getting the cart area ready for the day's tee times, then spend your shift circulating between the staging area, the practice facilities, and member arrival points. The pace changes with the schedule-steady stretches of prep and upkeep followed by short bursts of member support. Between tee-time waves, you'll reset the space, restock essentials, and keep everything looking polished so golfers can focus on their game. You'll wrap up by helping close down the area so the next day starts clean and organized.
Support That Matters
We offer benefits designed to help you take care of life on and off the course, including Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage; 401(k); Life Insurance; and a Flexible Spending Account. You'll also have Paid Time Off to recharge, plus access to a Snack/Drink Room, and Employee Discounts.
