Assistant Fleet Mechanic

Diesel Technician โ€” Growth Role

Chicopee, MA | $18โ€“$22/hour, based on experience | Full-Time

Build a real career in diesel mechanics โ€” starting now.

NETC Fleet Services is growing our Chicopee team, and we're looking for someone mechanically sharp and ready to develop into a skilled diesel technician. You'll start with the fundamentals โ€” preventive maintenance, brake work, and core repairs โ€” while we invest real training time to get you diagnosing engine issues and handling heavy maintenance like a seasoned pro.

This is a role built for someone who wants to learn, grow, and take on more as their skills develop.

What You'll Be Doing From Day One
  • Performing preventive maintenance (PMs) across our light, medium, and heavy-duty fleet vehicles
  • Diagnosing and replacing brake components, start to finish
  • Handling core repairs โ€” fluids, filters, belts, hoses, tires, and general upkeep
  • Working alongside senior technicians on more advanced repairs, learning handsโ€‘on as you go
  • Keeping accurate service and inspection records
  • Following DOT compliance and shop safety protocols
  • Keeping your workspace organized and ready to go
What We'll Teach You As You Grow
  • Full diagnostic procedures on diesel engines and complex fleet systems
  • Heavy maintenance and major repair work
  • The handsโ€‘on skills and judgment that separate a good tech from a great one
What You Bring
  • Basic mechanical experience โ€” diesel, automotive, or related trade background
  • A genuine willingness to learn and take direction from senior techs
  • A valid driver's license (CDL is a plus, not required)
  • Physical readiness for shop work, including lifting and standing for extended periods
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic โ€” we can teach skills, we can't teach showing up
Why NETC Fleet Services

We're expanding across multiple locations, and we need technicians who can grow with us. This role has a clear, visible path forward: the more you learn, the more responsibility and opportunity comes your way.

The Full Package
  • Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) with Company Match
  • Life & Disability Coverage
