Job description

Coordinates the work of and works with assigned Team(s) to support various work groups within the Operations Department to assist with carrying out the departments work in a nimble, efficient, and streamlined manner; Work groups/Tasks include: Custodial, Waste Management, Landscape Services, Mail Center, Event Support, Moving and Delivery, and Dining.

This is a full-time, benefits eligible, hourly position with a hiring range of $21.91 - $26.09 per hour.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Schedules and coordinates daily work assignments for assigned staff with some support from supervisor. Ensures staff has appropriate training to safely and effectively complete work assignments.
  • Responsible for equipment and supply requisition with assistance from supervisor. Uses, orders and restocks supplies in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • Supports supervisor in investigating and documenting damage, employee, and building issues.
  • Conducts inspections of building components, contents, and safety devices, takes inventory of building contents, maintains project lists, evaluates condition, coordinates routine maintenance and recommends maintenance/replacements with some support from supervisor.
  • Reports all safety hazards and works in conjunction with supervisor to provide a safe work environment. Performs all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with established departmental practices and procedures. Follows established protocols and provided training to effectively and safely clean up substances potentially containing bloodborne pathogens.
  • Monitors Events Reports to oversee accurate and timely completion of set ups for events. Acts as a liaison between event hosts, building occupants and supervisor.
  • Helps establish and maintain inter-departmental relations with all departments and the College community in order to foster a shared sense of responsibility for college resources and community respect.

Requirements

  • Leadership experience preferred. 3 years experience in maintenance trades, equipment operation and maintenance required. Custodial experience and knowledge of cleaning and floor care techniques, products and equipment preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years driving experience required with a preference for experience driving large vans and/or box trucks.
  • Demonstrates professional communication skills with ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to develop schedules for self and assigned staff. Must be able to read and accurately interpret floor plans and accurately execute event diagrams and associated written instructions.
  • Computer skills required in order to use computer based systems for inspections, supply ordering, work order submission, email communications, time entry, and approval. Training provided on specific systems.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Physical abilities include: Frequent, lifting, bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, walking and stair /ladder climbing required. Work is performed in multiple different buildings on a daily basis requiring the need to move between buildings through out the shift in various forms of weather. Ability to perform manual tasks requiring moderate physical strength. Must be available to work flexible shifts and overtime. Ability to work Saturdays and Sundays as part of a regular or rotating work shift.
