Job Description
Job Title: Golf Course Mechanic
Immediate Supervisor: General Manager and Golf Course Superintendent
Job Overview:
The Golf Course Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overall performance of all golf course equipment. This includes mowers, utility vehicles, small engines, and other mechanical tools essential to golf course operations. This role ensures equipment is safe, efficient, and ready for daily use to support course conditions and playability.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical issues on golf course equipment including:
    • Greens mowers, fairway mowers, and rough mowers
    • Utility vehicles and golf carts
    • Small engines (blowers, trimmers, chainsaws, etc.)
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance such as:
    • Oil changes, lubrication, filter replacement, and blade sharpening
    • Grinding and adjusting reels and bed knives
  • Maintain accurate service and repair records for all equipment
  • Establish and follow a preventative maintenance schedule
  • Order and manage parts inventory, ensuring timely availability of supplies
  • Ensure all equipment meets safety standards and is operating properly
  • Assist with equipment setup for daily course maintenance operations
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop area
  • Coordinate with the Golf Course Superintendent on equipment needs and priorities
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and fuel systems
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical training or certification in small engine repair, diesel mechanics, or related field preferred but not required
  • 2+ years of experience in equipment maintenance (golf course or landscaping equipment preferred)
  • Knowledge of reel mower grinding and adjustment is highly desirable
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals and schematics
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
  • Basic computer skills for record-keeping
