Position Overview:
The General Manager/Chief Operating Officer serves as the chief executive of the Club, responsible for the overall success, culture, and strategic leadership of all Club operations. This executive oversees all aspects of the member and guest experience, financial performance, and team engagement-ensuring the Club maintains its tradition of excellence while continuously evolving for the future.
The position will manage all facility operations including services, activities and relationships between the facility, its members, team members, community, government and industry, while reporting to Hampton Golf and conducting him/herself in a professional fashion; coordinating and administering company policies and procedures as agreed upon by management and ownership; producing all reporting requirements in a timely manner; training of team members; holding weekly meetings and directing the work of department managers; communicating of goals to the entire team; preparing, implementing and monitoring the budget; monitoring the quality of products and services to ensure maximum customer satisfaction in all departments. Also securing and protecting assets, including financials, the facilities and equipment.
The GM/COO reports directly to the Board of Directors, working collaboratively with the Board, committees, members, and a highly capable senior leadership team to uphold the Club's distinguished reputation and long-term success.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as the chief steward of the Club's mission, culture and brand of excellence.
  • Develops and coordinates the development of long range and annual business plans.
  • Coordinates the development of operating, cash flow and capital budgets while monitoring the accuracy of financial statements. Reviews income and expenses relative to plans, implements corrective measures as needed and reports status on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Manages and oversees all accounting, inventories, banking, audit procedures and cash flow and establishes controls to safeguard funds and assets, i.e. annual property inventory list and video, daily cash management and deposit of funds.
  • Administers personnel and general policies and ensures proper hiring, training, supervising, development, and corrective action in accordance with fair labor standards, safety and established policies as defined in the Hampton Golf Manuals.
  • Ensures and oversees the development of operating procedures, shift checklists and training manuals of Hampton Golf.
  • Operate within all guidelines, policies, standards, and constraints as established by Hampton Golf.
  • Develops and maintains a sound organizational structure.
  • Monitors the performance of all daily operations, functions, and services. Assures high standards and total customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures accurate recording of hourly labor and timely, accurate payroll processing.
  • Ensure and develop the emergency and safety procedures as defined in the Hampton Golf manuals.
  • Maintains active memberships in appropriate professional organizations.
  • Attend conferences, workshops, and meetings to keep abreast of current information and developments in the industry.
  • Meets, greets, and welcomes members, prospective members, and patrons.
  • Advises or provides recommendations for capital improvements, supplies, and equipment.
  • Assures operational compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Maintains knowledge and compliance with all lease terms and contractual obligations.
  • Oversees the care and maintenance of all physical assets and facilities.
  • Participates in the formulation of the annual and seasonal marketing and promotional plans.
  • Coordinates and supports the marketing plan and promotional programs to recruit members and our patrons.
  • Ensure appropriate fee structures are in place and that the highest standards for golf services and programs, golf course and practice area, food and beverage, tennis, swimming, recreation, entertainment, and other club services are exercised.
  • Diplomatically enforce all rules and regulations of Hampton Golf and the club.
  • Oversee and ensure quality tournament and instructional programs.
  • Develops and monitors compliance with all purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Ensure and initiates programs to provide members with a variety of innovative functions, programs, and events.
  • Conduct daily walk through to ensure the facility is safe and presentable and that courtesy and efficiency are being exercised throughout. See Hampton Golf manuals for guidelines.
  • Attends and participates in weekly department, other employee, board, and executive meetings.
  • Serves as ex-officio member of committees.
  • Contributes and coordinates all written correspondence, reporting, newsletters, manager's letters, etc.
  • Participates in outside functions and activities deemed appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • BA/BS Degree in Hospitality, Business Administration, Data Analytics, or related field.
  • 5-7 years' experience as General Manager, required.
  • PGA/LPGA or CMAA, preferred.
  • Possesses strong leadership, hospitality, and human relations skills.
  • Presents a professional appearance and demeanor in all exchanges.
  • Must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have excellent organizational and time management skills, along with the ability to coordinate details and prioritize the work on a daily and weekly basis.

Working conditions
Work is primarily indoors with some outdoor exposure. Potential exposure to sharp and rapid equipment movement, sharp utensils, harmful chemicals and/or being exposed to flying golf balls.

Physical requirements
Good organizational and verbal skills. Ability to use logical and rational thinking to resolve issues. Ability to perform basic mathematical skills, monitor and develop subordinates, visually monitor the operational areas, and write and read member communication.
Must have the ability to perform moderate physical work and may be required to lift up to 20 lbs. and up to 10 lbs. frequently. Perform activities such as bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, pushing, lifting, and grasping for up to 5 hours without sitting. Ability to consistently lift, carry, and load adaptive and other sports equipment that may weigh 50 or more pounds, and sustain aerobic activity for 20 consecutive minutes.
Please be advised that all work that requires the use of a ladder more than 8 ft. long must be reviewed by Hampton Golf Club's Maintenance person. Following an assessment of the situation, a determination will be made as to whether a maintenance team member or subcontractors will perform the necessary maintenance task. No other staff member is authorized to climb to heights exceeding 8 ft. and/or perform such maintenance. In addition, personnel are prohibited from entering facility attics, walking on the roof of buildings and/or from using scaffolding.
