Job Description
Jefferies is seeking a Vice President level Metals & Mining (M&M) Equity Research analyst to help expand the current team's global coverage. In this role, the analyst will initiate coverage on 20+ junior gold, silver and base metals companies and subsequently be the lead analyst on these names. The analyst will work closely with our top-ranked lead M&M analysts and be an important contributor to our global coverage of the sector. Key responsibilities will include building and maintaining financial models and industry databases, publishing research reports that will be distributed to internal/external clients, and effectively communicating recommendations to sales, trading and clients.
Required Background:
• Strong academic background, with technical training and knowledge (ideally but not necessarily a background as a geologist or mining engineer)
• 6+ years of related financial services experience, preferably in sell-side/buy-side equity research or investment banking
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to work in a time-sensitive environment
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment is a critical factor in this role
• Resourcefulness, entrepreneurial spirit and proven leadership qualities
• Bachelors Degree with high GPA preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
• Strong interest in Metals & Mining with technical knowledge and background in the industry
• Solid experience in business modeling and financial statement analysis
• Strong communication skills and a team player
• Securities licensing (Series 63 and 86/87)
Primary Location Full Time Salary Range of $175,000 - $235,000.
