Job description

Little Goat is seeking a full-time baker to join our team in Rhinebeck, NY

From the team behind INNESS, Lola Pizza, Ray’s Bar, and Freemans, Little Goat is a cafe, market, and restaurant rooted in the Hudson Valley’s agricultural landscape. Our kitchen focuses on vegetable-forward cooking, house-made pasta, local meats, and a growing bakery program centered on whole grains and seasonal ingredients.

We are looking for a dedicated baker to help us grow and expand our bread and pastry program.

The Bakery Program

Our bakery focuses on rustic baked goods, whole grain baking, and seasonal pastries.

We work with freshly milled New York State grains delivered weekly, and many of our breads and pastries highlight these grains and Hudson Valley produce. Our goal is to build a bakery program that reflects the surrounding farms and seasons while maintaining a strong foundation of everyday breads and pastries for the cafe and restaurant.

The Role

You will work closely with the Executive Chef, Sous Chef, and bakery assistant to produce breads and pastries for both the cafe and restaurant. This role offers the opportunity to help shape and expand the bakery program, contribute ideas, and work closely with the Little Goat team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Mixing and preparing doughs including breads, enriched doughs, and laminated pastries
  • Shaping, proofing, and baking breads and pastries for daily morning cafe service
  • Managing daily bakery production
  • Preparing pastry components and desserts for dinner service
  • Assisting with seasonal bread and pastry development
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient workspace
  • Upholding all food safety and sanitation standards

Morning availability is required.

This position will play an important role as we expand our bakery offerings for both cafe service and our growing restaurant.

What We’re Looking For

  • At least 1 year of professional baking or pastry experience
  • Experience with bread, sourdough, or laminated doughs preferred
  • Interest in whole grain baking and seasonal fruit pastries
  • Curiosity about working with freshly milled grains and regional agriculture
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Reliable, organized, and able to work efficiently in a small, collaborative kitchen

Compensation

$19–$22 per hour, depending on experience.

Why Join Us

  • Work with a hospitality team behind some of New York’s most respected restaurants
  • Be part of a growing cafe, market, and restaurant in the Hudson Valley
  • Opportunity to help develop and expand a bakery program
  • Work with freshly milled grains and seasonal farm ingredients
  • Supportive, collaborative kitchen environment

If you’re passionate about bread, seasonal baking, and thoughtful ingredients, we’d love to hear from you.

Please send a resume and a short note about your baking experience or interests.
We’re looking forward to hearing from you!
