Job description

Mountain Biking/Biking Instructor
We are looking for engaging summer camp instructors with experience in Mountain Biking and Learn to Bike instruction to lead half and full day programming for campers ages 5-14 with a focus on safety and personal growth.
Who We Are
At Go West Camps, we believe kids grow best when they move, explore, and connect with the world and people around them. Each day brings new adventures, from biking and paddle boarding to gardening to creative projects, all designed to help campers grow in confidence, develop independence, and form meaningful relationships. Our community is rooted in curiosity and inclusivity and fosters a genuine sense of belonging with staff who lead enthusiastically and with compassion. At camp, we prioritize being present and unplugged, encouraging both campers and counselors to engage fully with each moment and the world around them.
Working at Go West means gaining real-world experience in youth development and outdoor leadership while building skills that transfer far beyond camp. Staff have opportunities to earn certifications in outdoor activities and childcare all while being mentored by a supportive leadership team. It's a summer of growth, adventure, and community set against the stunning backdrop of the Rocky Mountains.
Who You Are
  • You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and can adapt quickly.
  • You have experience working with children in Learn to Bike and/or Mtn. Biking.

  • You communicate clearly and kindly with campers and fellow staff.
  • You are organized and resourceful, able to manage gear and campers in your program area.
  • You are excited to learn, train, and apply your skills in your program area.

  • Report to and assist the Adventure Programs Supervisor in gear maintenance and program development as well as bring your own personal touches to the program that make every day fun for our campers.
  • Comply with all applicable licensing and accreditation standards (CDHS, CDPHE, ACA, etc.).
  • Step in to support camper supervision at one of our three basecamp locations as needed, ensuring safety, engagement, and positive experiences.

The Fine Print
  • Seasonal Position: Full-time (40 hrs/week) during summer, typically scheduled 8 hours a day sometime between 8am and 5:00pm, Monday-Friday.
  • Location(s): Chinook Trail Middle School, Eagleview Middle School, The Colorado Springs School and Recreation Sites In the Colorado Springs Area
  • Compensation: Base Pay of $16.25/hour
  • Qualifications:

    • Experience with Learn to Bike, Mtn. Biking, Bike Repair (changing tubes/tires, adjusting handlebars-seats-pedals, and making basic repairs to chain and gear system)
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to move actively throughout camp and recreation sites, supervise children outdoors, and maintain awareness in a dynamic environment, ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs over varied terrain and distance.
  • Go West Camps is a drug-, alcohol-, and tobacco-free facility. Participation in occasional overnights and weekend programs may be required.
