What is a Go developer?

A Go Developer is a software engineer who specializes in using the Go programming language (also known as Golang) to build applications, systems, and services. Go Developers are often responsible for creating scalable and efficient back-end solutions, working with APIs, and optimizing performance. They may also collaborate with front-end developers, DevOps teams, and other stakeholders to deliver robust software products. Go is particularly popular for cloud services, networking tools, and distributed systems due to its simplicity and concurrency support.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Go developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Go Developer, you need a solid understanding of the Go programming language, concurrent programming principles, and software engineering fundamentals, often backed by a degree in computer science or related experience. Familiarity with tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, version control systems like Git, and cloud platforms is typically required, along with experience in RESTful API development. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills set outstanding Go developers apart. These capabilities are vital to building robust, scalable, and maintainable software solutions that meet business and user needs.

What are some common challenges Go developers face when working on large-scale projects?

Go Developers working on large-scale projects often encounter challenges related to managing dependencies, ensuring code maintainability, and optimizing performance. As projects grow, organizing packages and maintaining clear code structure become crucial for facilitating collaboration and minimizing technical debt. Additionally, Go's concurrency model, while powerful, requires careful design to avoid race conditions and ensure efficient resource utilization. Regular code reviews, automated testing, and clear documentation are essential practices to overcome these challenges and contribute effectively to large Go teams.

Job description

Overview

The ERP Application Developer develops, extends, automates, and supports applications within the Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&SCM and Power Platform ecosystem. The role will work closely with the ERP Technical & Integration Lead, business teams, and implementation partners to build sustainable solutions and reduce long-term reliance on external consultants. This role is well suited for an early-career professional with strong technical aptitude, curiosity, ownership, and a willingness to learn and grow into deeper D365 application ownership. This position is expected to collaborate across IT, business teams, implementation partners, and other stakeholders. Occasional after-hours and weekend work may be required to support planned system releases, cutovers, maintenance activities, and critical production incidents.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain D365 F&SCM X++ extensions, including data entities, custom fields, report data providers, and business logic
  • Build and maintain REST APIs, OData services, and application connectors
  • Develop Power Apps for manufacturing, warehouse, and business-process use cases, including shop floor forms, production reporting, maintenance requests, and OTTO AMR exception logging
  • Develop Power Automate workflows for approvals, notifications, exception handling, and process automation
  • Design and maintain Dataverse tables, relationships, and application data structures
  • Create and maintain governed D365 data entities, APIs, and OData endpoints for integration and analytics consumption
  • Partner with the Data Analytics Engineer to expose clean D365 data entities and OData feeds for reporting and analytics consumption.
  • Develop reusable application components and automation solutions in accordance with technical architecture standards
  • Perform debugging, root-cause analysis, and application defect resolution
  • Create unit tests and support SIT, UAT, regression testing, and release validation
  • Validate customizations and integrations against Microsoft D365 platform update
  • Participate in code reviews, source-control practices, Azure DevOps, LCS (Lifecycle Services) package management, and release processes
  • Support the ERP Technical and Integration Lead on X++ extension deployments, code reviews, and D365 release validation activities
  • Maintain application design, development, and support documentation
  • Work with business users to understand requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions
  • Support post-go-live enhancements, automation opportunities, and continuous improvement
  • Provide occasional after-hours and weekend support during planned releases, cutovers, system maintenance, and critical production incidents

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field (recent graduates are encouraged to apply)
  • 1-3 years of application development experience (internship, academic project, or portfolio experience may be considered)
  • Foundational programming skills in one or more languages such as C#, Java, JavaScript, Python, or similar
  • Basic SQL and relational database knowledge
  • Familiarity with APIs, JSON, REST, web services, or application integration concepts
  • Microsoft certifications or demonstrated self-directed learning in the Microsoft technology stack
  • Exposure to Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&SCM and/or X++ is preferred
  • Exposure to Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, or Azure is preferred
  • Experience with REST APIs, OData, OAuth, or application integration is preferred
  • Azure DevOps, Git, LCS (Lifecycle Services), or other source-control and ALM tooling experience is preferred
  • Manufacturing, warehouse, ERP, or business application exposure is preferred
