Urbana Country Clubย is excited to announce an exceptional career opportunity ofย Assistant in Training or Assistant Food & Beverage Manager. THIS POSITON IS FULL TIME, BUT WILLING TO CONSIDER A PART TIME POSTION AS WELL FOR THE RIGHT CANDIDATE.

Urbana Country Club is located in Central Illinois in the Champaign-Urbana area. The Club features brand new 10 million dollar 18-hole golf course designed by Drew Rogers which opens in May of 2025. Urbana Country Club provides a blend of amenities including a new resort building with a spa and 8 guest rooms, fitness center, sports courts, and aquatic center. This position will be focused on both casual and fine dining opportunities and events.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Lead the Front-of-House Team:ย You'll oversee and inspire a dynamic front-of-house team to deliver impeccable service and create a welcoming, memorable experience for all our members.
  • Scheduling & Payroll Pro:ย You will monitor and manage weekly employee schedules and payroll records, ensuring efficiency while keeping labor costs in line with the club's goals and operational needs.
  • Recruitment & Training:ย From hiring new team members to providing comprehensive orientation and ongoing training, you'll ensure that everyone is set up for success. You'll cultivate a service-first mindset that focuses on safety, accuracy, and member satisfaction.
  • Performance & Development:ย You'll provide feedback, document performance during the 90-day probation period, and lead annual reviews. You'll also offer continuous opportunities for training and growth to keep the team motivated and on track.
  • Safety & Compliance Champion:ย Implement and uphold safety programs and ensure that the team adheres to all safety protocols. You'll also ensure compliance with state and federal laws, liquor control requirements, and health department codes.
  • Operational Excellence:ย Keep the front-of-house operations running smoothly, from managing inventory to ensuring the cleanliness and organization of all service areas. You'll also complete opening and closing checklists to ensure everything is ready to go for the day ahead.
  • Guest Experience Focus:ย Be the face of exceptional service. You'll promote F&B activities, assist with member relations, and ensure that every guest leaves with a smile. Your energy and enthusiasm will set the tone for each guest's experience.
  • Daily Walk-Throughs:ย Conduct daily walk-throughs to ensure the facility is clean, safe, and presentable, and that all members of the team are delivering service with courtesy, professionalism, and efficiency.
  • Inventory & Stock Management:ย Stay on top of daily activity, ordering of products, stock levels, and monthly inventory to ensure we're always stocked and ready to go, while minimizing waste and controlling costs.
  • Collaborate & Communicate:ย Attend and participate in weekly department meetings, collaborate with the Executive Chef and GM, and help ensure that the entire team is working toward shared goals and success.
  • Protect the Club's Assets:ย You'll have a keen eye for protecting the assets of the club, from inventory to equipment and supplies, ensuring everything is properly accounted for and cared for.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Food & Beverage operation in either a Restaurant or Country Club atmosphere. Previous shift manager, assistant management, management experience is preferred or a similar role with a solid understanding of FOH operations. Open to considering candidates with only strong server experience.
  • Food Handler's Certificate required
  • ServSafe Certification preferred
  • Passion for hospitality
  • Strong Leadership skills, with ability to inspire, train, and manager a team
  • Solid understanding of budgeting, cost control, and managing financial aspects of F&B operations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Requirements

  • Professional in appearance with a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn and work with a team
  • Passionate about food and providing high quality of service to our members and guests.
  • 2 years of previous Food and Beverage experience, server experience is a plus
  • A desire to lead and train servers
