POSITION DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Preschool Caregiver
DEPARTMENT: Early Childhood Education
At Calvary Christian Academy, a ministry of Calvary Chapel, we are a community of Christian believers who exist to make disciples of Jesus Christ through a biblical school environment that prepares students to glorify God spiritually, academically, and socially. Our vision is to reach our community and change our world. As a minister and staff member, it is not only what we do, it is also who we are.
Purpose Statement:
The substitute will work in the capacity for which they are hired. As a First Steps Substitute Caregiver, the individual will teach, train, lead, guide, and follow the lesson plans to properly supervise children in their care. As a First Steps Substitute, the individual will follow the substitute plan and fulfill all the tasks to which they are assigned. These could be clerical tasks, supervision tasks, and class coverage tasks as needed. As a substitute, the individual must take ownership of the assigned role so that children are always well supervised and cared for.
Scope:
The position is multifaceted in that the individual takes on the tasks of another staff member who is absent. As a substitute, this person is in constant contact with children, other caregivers, parents, and administration.
Specific Responsibilities:
Model Christ in word and deed while:
  • Teach children with provided lesson plans
  • Follow childcare regulations, guidelines, procedures as set forth by ACSI & BCCCLE
  • Provide a safe environment for children
  • Assist teachers with required tasks, duties, and class coverage
  • Feed and care for specific needs of children

Qualifications/Skills/Gifts:
  • A strong personal commitment to Jesus Christ
  • A strong commitment to the philosophies and mission of Calvary Chapel
  • An Associates Degree or past experience working with children
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead and communicate with children
  • Ability to multi-task and adjust to varying age groups
  • Dress with a professional and modest attire
  • Demonstrate "with-it-ness" and be able to monitor groups of children with a positive disciplinary approach
  • Ability to be flexible and open to coming at the last minute and filling the gap where needs are evident
