Through our global, world-class engineering capabilities, AIG provides risk engineering and specialist services to help identify and reduce risks at AIG insured clients and properties. We perform comprehensive risk evaluations and recommend solutions that combine cutting-edge thinking and common-sense practicality to avoid or mitigate exposures. We also actively participate in, and contribute to, the development and fine-tuning of industry standards and codes.


How you create an impact:

  • Contribute to the development of technical risk engineering guidelines, bulletins, processes, and tools.
  • Maintain current industry knowledge of losses and research of new technologies and emerging risks.
  • Assist with complex technical property questions and plan reviews.
  • Conduct research for technical issues where there is limited or no industry guidance and work in conjunction with Head of Technical Services, Chief Underwriting Office, and Risk Engineering Leadership to determine AIG's stance on the topic.
  • Lead training and development within risk engineering, underwriting, and external clients and organizations.
  • Manage training enrollment and participation records.
  • Manage the training and technical guideline libraries.
  • Work in conjunction with Head of Technical Services and Risk Engineering Managers to support development of systems and process efficiencies.
  • Maintain and provide oversight of the development of risk engineering tools.
  • Participate in external technical and industry groups (NFPA, CFPS, etc.)

WhatYou'llNeedto Succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics or equivalent industry knowledge
  • Minimum fifteen (15)years of highly protected risk, specialized industry and/or boiler and machinery field experience
  • Knowledge of a wide range of commercial property occupancies, including light hazard and heavy industrial occupancies
  • Strong communication skills-both oral and written
  • Ability/willingness to travel to client and account meetings as well as technical conferences on occasion as requested.

Soft Skills:

  • Highly motivated and workswell without close supervision.
  • The individual must be able to make decisions with and withoutestablishedguidelines and toprovidetechnical support to risk engineers, underwriters,andclients.
  • Ability to work closely with various Global Head of Technical Services, Account Teams (including Account Engineers) and Underwriters
  • Ability to multi-task and complete assignmentson-time.

Hard Skills:

  • Professional Engineer, Certified Fire Protection Specialist Designation, or similar(desired but notrequired)
  • Ability to perform reviews of buildings and other structures.
  • Ability to read risk reports, construction drawings, diagrams, printed materials.
  • Familiarity with NFPA, FM, and other industry standards

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to perform physical activitiesrequiredfor the position (i.e., be onfeetandwalking8-10 hours a day, safely work at heights)
  • Ability to understand and appreciate safety training specific tonumerousworkplace and construction hazards.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to wear safety equipment required for the position if mentoring at survey (hard hat, safety shoes, safety glasses and hearing protection)
  • Ability to perform physical activities required for the position.
  • Ability/willingness to be on-line on Teams (and green when not in meetings) daily when working as part of an immediate-access support team.

The base salary range for this position is $150,000-$190,000 (USD). However, the final base salary offered to a candidate may be higher or lower than the range depending on the candidate's specific work location and other potential factors. Your actual compensation will be dependent on your skills, experience, and qualifications. If your compensation expectations are above the posted range, we still encourage you to apply-your unique background matters to us. This position is also eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. For positions based in Ontario, the base salary range is $110,000-$140,000, CAD.
