Insurance & Risk Management Coordinator

Location: Del Mar, CA (On‑site, 5 days/week)


A leading organization is seeking a detail‑oriented Insurance & Risk Management Coordinator to support and manage key insurance operations across a diverse book of commercial real estate.


This newly created role is ideal for a professional with strong tenure, an entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to serve as the internal subject‑matter expert for insurance, risk management, and evolving self‑insurance initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of insurance operations, including policy administration, renewals, endorsements, certificates, and documentation management.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on commercial insurance policy coverages, including General Liability, Professional Liability, Workers’ Compensation, Property, Excess, Auto, and Crime.
  • Develop a working understanding of organizational insurance policies, procedures, and risk management strategies.
  • Support risk analysis across property and casualty lines and assist with insurance program transitions, including processes related to self‑insurance development.
  • Facilitate information flow between internal teams, brokers, consultants, and third‑party administrators to ensure accurate policy issuance and risk assessment.
  • Monitor claims activity, track open matters, and support communication with adjusters and external partners.
  • Manage premium payments, billing accuracy, and policy documentation requirements.
  • Maintain compliance awareness related to insurance regulations, industry standards, and contractual obligations.
  • Provide administrative and operational support to finance, legal, and risk management stakeholders.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements in insurance processes, reporting, and organizational risk practices.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Strong tenure and stable work history.
  • 3–5 years of experience in insurance coordination, risk management, or brokerage.
  • Experience within commercial real estate is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of multiple P&C lines (GL, PL, WC, Property, Excess, Auto, Crime).
  • Ability to clearly explain and advise on commercial insurance policy coverages to internal teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort working with brokers, consultants, and internal leadership.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Yardi or similar systems is a plus.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to act as the “go‑to” internal resource for insurance and risk management.
