Job description

Grant Thornton is seeking a Managing Director, Global Business Enablement to join the team in Atlanta, GA.

Position Summary:

The Managing Director of Global Business Enablement is a senior leadership position responsible for driving the successful delivery of strategic business transformation initiatives across Grant Thornton Advisors. Initially focused on leading the firm's SAP S/4HANA program, this role will ensure business objectives, process transformation, technology implementation, organizational readiness, and operational outcomes remain aligned throughout the program lifecycle.

Reporting directly to the CIO and serving as a member of the GTech Leadership Team, the Global Head of Business Enablement will lead the firm's largest transformation initiative, overseeing program delivery, governance, budget, resource management, risk mitigation, vendor performance, and executive stakeholder engagement.

The role serves as the operational leader for the SAP program and a key advisor to executive leadership and the Steering Committee, ensuring decisions are made effectively, risks are proactively managed, and the organization remains focused on delivering measurable business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Lead enterprise-wide business enablement initiatives that drive operational effectiveness, process modernization, and technology adoption.

  • Serve as the executive leader responsible for successful delivery of the SAP S/4HANA transformation program.
  • Align business, technology, finance, operations, HR, and service line stakeholders around shared objectives and delivery commitments.
  • Establish a culture of accountability, execution excellence, and business value realization.

Program Governance & Delivery

  • Own overall program execution, including scope, schedule, budget, quality, and outcomes.

  • Develop and maintain integrated program plans across all workstreams.
  • Lead governance forums, executive reviews, decision boards, and Steering Committee meetings.
  • Ensure program milestones, dependencies, and critical-path activities are managed effectively.
  • Drive disciplined program management and delivery practices across all participating teams.

Financial & Resource Management

  • Oversee program budgets, forecasts, vendor spend, and financial performance.

  • Ensure effective allocation of internal and external resources.
  • Monitor delivery capacity and workforce requirements to support program objectives.
  • Partner with Finance leadership to ensure funding transparency and fiscal accountability.

Risk & Issue Management

  • Establish a robust framework for managing risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies.

  • Proactively identify and mitigate threats to timeline, budget, scope, quality, and business readiness.
  • Lead complex problem-solving efforts involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Escalate critical program concerns and recommendations to executive leadership.

Executive Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a key interface between executive leadership, business stakeholders, implementation partners, and delivery teams.

  • Prepare and present executive-level reporting, recommendations, and decision materials.
  • Build trusted relationships across the organization to drive alignment, commitment, and adoption.
  • Represent the program in executive governance forums and Steering Committee discussions.

Business Readiness & Value Realization

  • Partner with business leaders to ensure organizational readiness, process adoption, and sustainable operational change.

  • Drive focus on business outcomes rather than technology deployment alone.
  • Establish success measures and track realization of expected business benefits.
  • Ensure transition plans are in place for long-term operational ownership and support.

Qualifications:

Required

  • 15+ years of leadership experience managing large-scale enterprise programs and business transformation initiatives.

  • Demonstrated success leading complex ERP or SAP transformation programs.
  • Experience managing executive stakeholders, steering committees, and cross-functional business leaders.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budget management, forecasting, and vendor oversight.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to manage ambiguity, drive accountability, and deliver results in complex environments.

Preferred

  • SAP S/4HANA implementation leadership experience.

  • Professional services industry experience.

  • Global program leadership experience.

  • Experience leading business process transformation efforts alongside technology deployments.
