Job description

Description
The Department of History of Art & Architecture at Middlebury College invites applicants for a full-time tenure-track position in Architectural Studies beginning in fall 2027. The successful candidate for this position will have a strong commitment to, and training in, history and theory, as well as expertise in design methodology. They will be expected to teach foundational and upper-level architectural design studios, as well as theory courses. They will contribute to the department's Museum Studies curriculum and team-taught global survey. A focus in Museum Studies or exhibition design is especially welcome. Applicants are required to have a MArch degree, with strong preference given to candidates holding a MArch and PhD, experience as the instructor of record teaching undergraduates, an active research agenda, and a commitment to the Liberal Arts.
As part of a full teaching load, the candidate will also regularly contribute to Middlebury's First Year Seminar Program and Winter Term course offerings. All faculty at Middlebury are also expected to contribute to service to the College including, but not limited to, committee membership and serving as Director or Chair of a Program or Department when asked.
